Mr Bean laughs once in five years

British comedian Rowan Atkinson says he laughs out loud on an average of once every five years.

Atkinson, who is popular for playing the Mr. Bean character, also revealed that he feels no satisfaction when he hears the audience laugh at his jokes, reports contactmusic.com.

He said: "Some actors get an incredible high from hearing laughter, but I don't. Sadly, I never feel any great adrenaline rush. I never get elated by it, I never feel any euphoria.

"All I get is relief. That it worked, and that it has gone down well and the job is being done. So I feel satisfaction rather than elation.

"I don't laugh very much at all. I smile and I am enjoying myself but I don't laugh out loud, hardly ever - maybe once every five years."

What a fun guy. So glad he decided to share his lack of humor.

Curious, you have to wonder why he went in to acting. I believe he has a degree in engineering (Chemical?)

I really enjoy his work, especially Mr. Bean. I also enjoy his work as Black Adder.

My wife hates him, she also dislikes Monty Python. Generally she dislikes English humor.

Too bad, I generally pull out the stuff when she is not home.

ROFLMAO! Great! Now I know what it feels like to have hot coffee come out my nose. :-)

Atkinson may not laugh a lot, but at least he takes his job of making US laugh seriously.

For the most part, I like British humor. I was saddened to hear the actor who played Mr. Humphries on Are You Being Served died not too long ago.

Well, it isn't always easy being the Prime Minister of Spain.

Unlike many,I'm not a big fan or Mr Bean but "Thin Blue Line" was pretty good and "Blackadder" is just about the best Britcom ever.

"wife hates him"

Too bad. My wife loves British humor. But then she was raised in England.

"I'm Vwinning. I'm Vwinnig!" Mr. Bean in Rat Race.

Funniest movie I've seen in the last 10 years.

Me too. My wife doesn't understand the humor of it all. She thinks a Doris Day movie is the height of comedy.

My favorite Mr. Bean is when he’s on the beach in a suit jacket, shirt and suit pants and wants to change into his swimsuit, with a guy wearing sunglasses sitting on his recliner in the sand right next to him! It’s hilarious!

"Funniest movie I've seen in the last 10 years."

Isn't it a riot? The monster truck rally, the Squirrel Lady, and, oh, the Barbie Museum!

Not every joke works, and the ending is lame, but entire swaths of it are hit-the-pause-button funny, split-your-sides funny, gasp-for-air funny.

Of all the actual Mr. Bean television episodes, my favorite is "Mr. Bean is in Rm. 426". I was in a transcontinental flight crammed back in steerage in a creaking Tower Air 747, and that was part of the in-flight entertainment. I was in a foul mood and had never heard of Mr. Bean before but started watching anyway. Soon had me roaring, and when I got home I went out and bought the box set.
