Top Federal Lawman In Jersey Vows To Go After Corrupt Low Level Public Officials

The top Federal law enforcement official in the Garden State has announced the arrests of 14 public officials in Paterson and Passaic - on corruption charges.

U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Chris Christie says the case demonstrates how widespread corruption has become in our State.

"We're talking about people in the lowest levels in government" says Christie, "people who exist in a governmental culture which gives them the sense that this type of conduct is permissible."

He points out there have been many recent cases involving high-profile Jersey politicians being arrested for corruption, and "that conduct by the leaders of our government gives license to these folks to conduct themselves in the same way - I think it's part of an overall culture that we're trying to change."

Christie adds "it's not only the major public officials in New Jersey who should be concerned if they're breaking the law- it's all public officials…the message to send out is I'm not going to tip my hand as to what else we're doing and where we're looking - we are willing to commit the resources that are necessary to do all of these different types of cases…if you think you're going to escape our notice because you happen to be lower down the ladder than someone else, you're going to be sadly mistaken."

Alright... Now when are they going to charge Jim McGreevey for his crimes? Its ok he can give his toy boy who isn't even American a job, visit rest stops for his gay adventures and he never gets charged? I will believe there is some hope for NJ when he is arrested....

Clearly, upper level corrupt officials are finally getting fed-up with subordinates skimming off so much graft, graft that could and should be coming directly to them. The war on lower level corrupt officials will be intense. The war on upper level corrupt officials will remain invisible.
