AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 2254) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | March 26, 2007 | All of Us

Posted on 03/26/2007 5:23:16 AM PDT by Chairman_December_19th_Society

As we settle into the nighttime of despair, fret not, for the Sun will rise again!!

Good morning!!

We, here, will never forget those who died on September 11, 2001, as we seek to protect the Republic from all who will do her harm!!

Iran is planning to charge the 15 British sailors with illegal entry into its territory. On a related matter, Iran said it will limit cooperation with the UN after the world body voted to impose sanctions when Iran refused to halt nuclear enrichment.

Senate Republican have blocked a measure that would have allowed Algore to stage his Live Earth concert on the Capitol grounds.

The eko-wackos in Sydney, Australia, are seeking to have that city become the first to stage an hour-long globull warming blackout--yep, turn out the city lights. The city has agreed, though participants have to volunteer--the city itself will darken government buildings for the hour, and thousands of residents also will join in. Restaurants have indicated they will serve dinner by candlelight--no word from the fire marshall on that.

And President Chavez of Venezuela has announced he will work toward the creation of "collective property" in that country.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

VP Dick Cheney is giving the commencement address at BYU (my alma mater) in April. There is a little rumbling going on, but most seem to be excited to have Dick Cheney come and speak. I've read several letters to the editor where they threaten not to donate to BYU anymore and promise they will never buy any BYU sweatshirts ever ever again (oh the horror.) I'm just waiting for Rocky Anderson to form a protest...

I used to donate platelets a lot (every three or four weeks), because I have so many platelets, and they can always use them, especially for situations like your MIL's or people with cancer. (I started a few years ago when a friend's father needed them.)

But it can take so much more time if they have to use the "single needle" method, which they have to with me, so I took a breather from it for awhile. Your post is a reminder that I should start again. It is a painless process, and you get to watch TV, DVDs, or read while you lay there, so it's not too bad.

You can donate whole blood every six to eight weeks, platelets every two weeks, and I am not sure about plasma. I'm not sure what plasma is, but it is not platelets, which are used by the blood for clotting. Each of these is needed by different types of patients. Let me look it up, now that you've gotten my curiosity going, LOL!

Here is what one site says:

Over a million hospital patients use plasma therapies each year. The listed products represent only a portion of the products manufactured from plasma.

Albumin—120,000 burn victims per year rely on the use of Albumin and 200,000 heart surgery patients receive Albumin for fluid replacement. Generally, Albumin is used as a body fluid replacement. Albumin is also often used as an ingredient in the manufacture of many biotechnology products.

AHF—Antihemophilic Factor is used in the treatment of the bleeding disorder. There are approximately 420,000 individuals with hemophilia worldwide.

Immune Globulin—The major globulin product is Intravenous Immune Globulin (IVIG), which is used to treat individuals exposed to infectious disease when no vaccine is available. Immune Globulin products are also used in the treatment of hepatitis, measles, rabies, rubella, tetanus, smallpox and chicken pox. In addition, several hundred infant deaths are prevented annually through the use of Rh Immune Globulin prepared from plasma.

Plasma Protein Factor— Is prescribed for the restoration of plasma volume subsequent to shock, trauma, or disease.

I think you can donate plasma up to 2 times per week. I think that's what Ev said.

I would love to donate plasma or even whole blood for that matter, but I had hepatitis A as a child........so they don't want my blood.:(

Has Utah gone the way of California in some way that we haven't heard about? What's up with Rocky "Cindy Sheehan" Anderson?

Morning, Two thirds! How's your weather? We are having a long warm spell and so far (barring the expected cold snap) an early spring.

Well, it's been in the high 60's for 2 days and again today, then cooler, 50's, but little or no moisture, then nice again for the weekend.

You made me go check the 15 day outlook. We are dropping back into the 60's , then warming up again, but (of course) Easter week we will be in the 40's for highs. Sigh.

Got to go get ready to babysit. Have a great day!
