When my children were young we had a German Shepherd, a wonderful beautiful female who I would trust with my life, but not my kids lives. Why do people with kids have pets that need to be chained?
Prayers for this poor little child.

LOL
No, but I bet you they've played with them.
No names, but I know a few folks.
Let your mind wander.....

My next-door neighbor has a St. Bernard. Fabulous animal. We dog-sit on occasion. His paws are bigger than my hand. I couldn't deal with all that hair on a regular basis, though.

I see the same thing on the TV every night, when some gang-banger gets capped:
"My baby dint hurt NOBODY!!!"

"But my pit bull would never hurt a flea."
The proclamation of every pit bull owner just after their "pet" rips out the entrails of a child.

I have a JRT/Chihuahua cross, if you can imagine. Not hyper at all...

I am sure you can run across a sweet tiger that was trained. That doesn't make it a suitable domestic pet

I would never want to be in the position of finding out that the dog of a tenant in one of my properties killed a neighbor's child. Forget the potential liability, I couldn't live with myself.

It's too bad, really. Most of those pits and pit-crosses in the shelters probably are just big, goofy, friendly dogs that aren't particularly dangerous. The pits I've known all had really friendly personalities. But some percentage of them are time bombs, and who wants to take a chance on that? I hate to see good dogs put down unnecessarily, but no, I wouldn't adopt a pit or pit-cross, either.

My neighbor had a Rottweiler, and I had a shotgun loaded with buckshot . . .
Psycho dog. I didn't like the way it looked at the kids.

Some people are unable to add anything intelligent or meaningful to a thread other than a joke or picture... even a tragic story where someone has died.

From the story, unless this was in a fenced in yard, this could have just as easily have been a neighbors child since the animal broke loose.
