Why Saint Patrick's Day?

Saint Patrick's Day has come to be associated with everything Irish: anything green and gold, shamrocks and luck. Most importantly, to those who celebrate its intended meaning, St. Patrick's Day is a traditional day for spiritual renewal and offering prayers for missionaries worldwide.

So, why is it celebrated on March 17th? One theory is that that is the day that St. Patrick died. Since the holiday began in Ireland, it is believed that as the Irish spread out around the world, they took with them their history and celebrations. The biggest observance of all is, of course, in Ireland. With the exception of restaurants and pubs, almost all businesses close on March 17th. Being a religious holiday as well, many Irish attend mass, where March 17th is the traditional day for offering prayers for missionaries worldwide before the serious celebrating begins.

In American cities with a large Irish population, St. Patrick's Day is a very big deal. Big cities and small towns alike celebrate with parades, "wearing of the green," music and songs, Irish food and drink, and activities for kids such as crafts, coloring and games. Some communities even go so far as to dye rivers or streams green!

This one is a little boy. I plan for him to be Ester Lily's boyfriend. There are a couple of ways to tell. A snake's sexual organs are withdrawn inside the tail, and techniques involve either probing to see what's there or popping to see what comes out. I let more experienced people handle that stuff.

Um, has anyone pointed out yet the conflict between rule #4 and rules #1 and 3?

So is there an UNOFFICIAL thread where we can lie our as***, er, arses off?

Hi there. Many newer people dont know some of the history here at the Singles thread. For some reasaon we "can be" the black sheep at FR & taken to the woodshed more than we like.

The mods have been all over us for various "crossing the line" matters & so we have tried hard to keep the integrity of the thread for that reason. We have had whole threads pulled & many of our posters banned for things that on other threads don't hardly get a nod.

So we are scrutinized by a higher level in a way & so try hard to make this know to the new folks. The oldies are aware of the past situations.

We have had NON participant/lurkers hit the abuse buttons on us more than we would like. It is fair or right? No, I dont think it is, but I am NOT in charge of FR & am tryng hard to keep this thread afloat here in JimRob's wonderful Forum

Not sure if I am being clear (I am half brain dead from an intense past week)..maybe others can jump in with their observations..

If everyone wants to get a little "looser"..go to r or X discourse & see what happens (I think I know what will happen).. let us get your ideas..

hope they like each other.

I can recall once when I brought in a female to mate with my "stud" Persian. She really wasn't too interested in him but was interested in the stray that we took in a few days prior. Of course we kept all separate etc.. but it was funny to see the two with their paws under the doors & noses under door, trying to find/get each other & the poor stud, male just trying his best to "do his job" despite all.

Maybe snakes aren't as picky.

BTW.. we did have success & the female gave birth to 6 cuties.. and we were paid the stud fee

Hey, fuggedaboudit. I'm a veteran of the CREVO threads. I know how to duck.

Wow! What is his or her name? E.T. should be the name because I definitely see aliens there!

Typically, snakes aren't very picky. If the female is receptive, any male will do. Occasionally, there will be a male who isn't interested, but typically, they'll lock up when brought together. That's a whole different part of the snake hobby, and I want to try it a little bit.

I haven't given him a name yet. I'm toying with the idea of naming him Whittaker after Whittaker Chambers. I've toyed with the idea of naming him Duncan or even Hunter because I'm thinking of supporting Duncan Hunter in the election. Those are the main thoughts, but I'm not sold one any of them yet.

You just keep a pet and once everything gets stabilized and routine it is almost like it just tells you his or her name. You just find yourself naturally saying a name as smooth and natural as slipping on old slippers. And you know that is the perfect name. I honestly believe that.

I agree with you on names. Even with kids. Parents have all these "neat" names picked out BUT often when you hold & talk to your newborn or your new pet for a bit.. something just jumps out & hits you.. THE RIGHT NAME
