I think there were a couple of engineers in the band, no?

Tom Scholz, mechanical engineer, MIT. I dunno about anyone else (although Brad and Tom were Boston).

He was my hero until I found out what a raving left wing nut he is.

Hey now, I saw one of my music heroes in a darn tavern in Phoenix. He died several years later. Name was Rory Gallagher.

Yeah, the fact the family isn't wanting to go into details makes me think we are in for a Behind The Music: Boston, at the end of this year.

he loved playing whether it was for 300 people in a club or high school or 20,000 in an arena....

I saw him with Beatle Juice in a little club in Salem, MA just before Christmas and there were only about two hundred people in the club...great show and he was rocking, he was an outstanding musician with no attitude...so sad he took his own life, shit happens, God rest his soul...

Very sad. This man's singing ability was no less than a gift from God. What a terrible loss to the music world. May he R.I.P.

Yeah, well I tend not to get choked up over dead rock and rollers. One of the funniest things I can remember was some years back when I was working at a large unnamed aerospace company. One of the older engineers (probably mid fifties, and an curmudgeonly feller) shows up one morning wearing a black armband. I asked him why. He said "didn't you know that Kurt Cobain killed himself" in the most faux serious tone I ever heard. I nearly peed my pants laughing.

Kinda morbid, I know.

the family takes comfort in knowing that he's finally at peace.

I hope he knew Christ.

Maybe "very tired" meant that he was very ill and in pain?

Sounds like depression to me, but I'm just speculating and mean no disrespect to the deceased. RIP.

Hitch a Ride

Day is night in new york city
Smoke, like water, runs inside
Steel idle trees to pity
Every living things that’s died

Gonna hitch a ride
Head for the other side
Leave it all behind
Never change my mind
Gonna sail away
Sun lights another day
Freedom on my mind
Carry me away for the last time
Oh yeah

Life is like the coldest winter
People freeze the tears I cry
Words of hail their minds are into
I’ve got to crack this ice and fly

Gonna hitch a ride
Head for the other side
Leave it all behind
Never change my mind
Gonna sail away
Sun lights another day
Freedom on my mind
Carry me away for the last time
Oh yeah

Gonna hitch a ride
Head for the other side
Leave it all behind
Never change my mind
Gonna sail away
Sun lights another day
Freedom on my mind
Carry me away for the last time
Oh yeah
Socrates, soon to drink the hemlock that would send him across, told his friends to follow him--they didn't get it. How can we follow you across? He reminded his friends that even though you can take your own life, you shouldn't. You shouldn't because it belongs to God.

I seem to remember them a few years back touring with Styx and Kansas. You couldn't have paid me to sit through that.

Tired of playing small Indian casinos, I guess.

I blame Tom Scholz. Stuck up POS! Scholz is a big PETA donor and a long time vegetarian. On the big thread right after Delp's death I criticized Scholz for never touring even though others begged him to because they needed the money. Why would Brad kill himself except over money troubles? A bit like Rick Danko died young because Robbie Robertson scammed the other Band members out of song writing credits & royalties. Most Band fans detest Robbie Robertson

Boston toured once every decade

I can't sound too stuffy. I saw the Moody Blues when they were 15 years past their prime.

Yeah, I've given up listening to more than a few bands I liked because of their idiotic politics. I have a few hold outs, and I hope they just shut up and continue to sing.
