Family: Rocker Brad Delp's death was suicide.
CONCORD, N.H. The family of rock musician Brad Delp says his death last week was a suicide.
In a statement relayed through police, the family gave no other details concerning Delp's death at his Atkinson, New Hampshire on Friday.
Police have said his fiancee, Pamela Sullivan, found him there.
Delp was the lead singer for the band Boston, which was founded in the 1970s.
The statement says Delp -- a native of Danvers -- was a man who gave all he had to help everyone around him.
It goes on to say he was "very tired" and that the family takes comfort in knowing that he's finally at peace.
Some of Boston's hits include "More Than A Feeling" and "Peace of Mind."
I was very sorry to hear this as well. For me, Boston was the soundtrack for high school.
Tired of playing small Indian casinos, I guess.
I wonder if he knew Richard Lenni.
Actually interesting that you mention it, since my understanding was that the members of Boston all had regular 9-to-5 jobs and just "fell into" stardom.
Boston was playing arenas a few years ago and was playing to 10,000 people a night...what have you been up to lately? Have you sold over 50 million records worldwide and touched the hearts of tens of millions over the last 3 decades?
Ouch !
Perhaps just a coincidence, but interesting anyway...
Delp worked around the clock...the Beatle Juice side project, RTZ, Boston, appearances for charity non-stop...he loved playing whether it was for 300 people in a club or high school or 20,000 in an arena....
Cashed in his chips... so to speak.
It's Richard Jeni.
Who is that? I know who Lemmy is.
I was a huge fan of Boston as well, and was even cheering for them when they were sued by their record label for not putting out music fast enough. Tom Scholz was always a fanscinating character to me, the inventor/musician...
Then I got a copy of Walk On, and it was filled with PETA ads, and way over the top anti-corporate nonsense.
Then...they came out with Corporate America, hehe. Which is chock full of global warming sky is falling stuff, more PETA, and obviously by the title, you can imagine what some of those songs were like.
It's too bad about Brad, though, I thought he was an excellent vocalist. It's another example about how multiplatinum records can't buy you happiness.
I think there were a couple of engineers in the band, no?
I saw Boston for the first time 10 years ago....AT A CASINO!!
OK, all kidding aside, it was an outdoor ampitheater in the casino parking lot, no indians involved. Great show! They had a young rhythm guitarist helping Brad hit the high notes, but Brad (and Tom Scholz) put on a memorable performance.
He looks like Kris Kristofferson
Maybe "very tired" meant that he was very ill and in pain?
