My Daughter's Voice Mail Recording...by her Father!

One of my daughters has been having some troubles with some harassement by guys she knows. Always asking for dates and not taking no for an answer. These particular fellows call her cell phone constantly. So, she asked me if I could help her and I told her perhaps a direct message on her voice mail would do the trick. This is what we came up with, and it has addressed the issue. I share it with anyone who may have a similar concern. Click on the following link and then select to download it to your computer where you can listen to it with whatever music player you use (Media Player, iTunes, etc.). It is a 2Mb .wav file.

Thanks for your input. My daughter has been raised traditionally and ultimately will have a man in her life to provide for and protect her. At the same time, since an early age, she has been around firearms and knows how to shoot., If necessary, she is more than capable of protecting herself.

When she comes and talks to me about resolving an issue like this...I help her. This resolution is more of a tongue in cheek thing and not meant to resolve any truly serious problem. Believe me, as her father and having, with my wife of 29 years raised her through her teen years, she has the wit, and the capability of telling these guys exactly where to get off if necessary.

In this case, she is addressing a realtively minor issue, getting a few lauchgs from her friends, and letting her good ole Dad feel like he's helping out all at the same time. Win, win, win all around.

My guess is, in his mind, he blew it off...but also decided it was best not to keep calling and pestering her, hehehe. These young men (in their 20s) were not "over the edge"...just too persistent for my daughter's taste and this was, for her, and her dad, a fun way to address it.

At the same time...if they were inclined to go "over the edge" it was also a pretty direct message aimed at that.

Your message brings back some memories! I caught one of my daughters 'admirers' trying to get in her window late one night. She wasn't even home. 20 years later my daughter ran into the kid and the only thing he asked was,"Does your mom still have that gun?"

Thanks AuntB. This daughter is 24. I have duaghters 28, 27, and 24. We've already been the rounds through the teen years and early 20s where Dad got dumber and dumber...and now she has come full circle where her Dad is someone she trusts and knows loved her all those years and is someone she can get good advise and counsel from.

I was always sitting cleaning my rifle or shotgun or sharpening up one of my, rather large, knives, with knuckle guards, when a young man came to pick up one of my daughters.

Some of the looks I got were priceless, especially when sharpening my knives.

But they always had my daughters back on time, in a state approximating decency.
