Actor John Inman, most famous for the comedy "Are You Being Served?", has died in London aged 71, his spokesman said.
Inman made his name in the 1970s show as Mr Humphries, whose catchphrase "I'm free!" entered popular culture.
Mr Humphries became one of TV's best known characters, and in 1976 Inman was voted funniest man on television by TV Times readers. He was declared BBC TV's personality of the year the same year.

Perhaps not as earth shaking as Anna Nicole's death, but he was far more entertaining.

I still love to watch that show on BBC America sometimes. Very funny. 71 is too young. So sorry to see him go.

He was one of those actors who was so good in a particular role that you can't imagine someone else doing that role.

I love that show. Between that and Keeping Up Appearances, a good time was always guaranteed.

The show is timeless and still very funny. I thought Hepatitis A was more easily treatable.

Right on target. The Aussie network produced their own local remake of "Are You Being Served" that ran a season or two. Taking the premise whole they recast the show with Aussie style versions of the British characters, except they imported Inamn to again play Mr Humphrey.
