A 41-year-old Redding man charged with molesting a 12-year-old girl told investigators the child was his girlfriend and he loved her, court records show. [snip] After spending hours on the telephone wooing the girl, the relationship heated up around Christmas and Hakmiller arrived at the girl's home, police said. She introduced him to her parents, who apparently believed he was much younger, and on Christmas Eve he took her to an arcade and an Upland motel, the documents alleged.
Hakmiller and the girl allegedly had sexual contact and he bought her makeup and lingerie for a second day together at the motel, police said. On their third day together, Hakmiller drove her to his Redding home, police said.
The girl's parents apparently consented to the trip because they believed Hakmiller wanted to introduce the girl to his family, according to the reports. [snip]
Hakmiller and the girl allegedly had more sexual contact in Redding, and he returned her to Ontario about a day later, investigators said.

Oddly, the same thought crossed mine.
If you average Redding & Ontario, you come out about 100 miles south of San Francisco...but the thought is the same.
Just as a bit of background, Redding used to be, as of a decade or so ago, a 'dumping ground' for paroled perverts.

I can't recall if it was on "America's Most Wanted" or some other
crime show....but Redding was reported as a "hot-spot" for paroled
sex-offenders.
The idea of pedophilia and other perversion in Redding doesn't
suprise me.
If I had a 21-year-old daughter, I wouldn't let her leave the house with that guy, and I wouldn't care if I had to tackle her to the ground and sit on her, with her upper lip in one hand and a fistful of her hair in the other.
I don't even want to think what my hubby would do. Nevermind, he'd do what I'd do. Take him on a swamp visit to see all the pretty little gators. :-)

hmmm, when miss kels is 12 i think her daddy, 18 yr old
brother and 24 yr old brother will have alot to say about
who she's spending her time with. i already feel a bit
sorry for some poor lil guy knocking at the door only to
be met by that threesome.
Most of it is okay, but it does have more than its share of perverts since the prisons started dumping there.
When I went to grammar school at the lake, Redding was only about 15,000 people, and was a nice small town. I hate even going there to visit relatives & friends there, now.
How they would let a child go with someone they didn't know for a very long time is beyond me. Or couldn't see that this 41 yr old man was too old for a 12 yrs even if he looked younger .... How dumb could they be?? I am a very over protective mother. But I would rather be safe then sorry. My daughter is 7 and I won't even dress her like many of the parents in her school dress their daughters. I want her to have a childhood not be rushed out of it. These parents need parenting classes or jail ... This is just sick.

My sister, as a junior high teen, spent several evenings crying, after her three older, high school, brothers adamantly refused to let certain guys they knew from high school through the door.
"Not OUR sister is having anything to do with THAT _________! We had gym class with him, and KNOW what he's like!" or similar...and they didn't hesitate to tell Dad what they knew, either.
Parents in name only I imagine.
I am a very over protective mother.
As am I. The things I used to put my teen daughters dates through before I'd let them go out with them.
The last hoop they had to jump through was handing me their drivers license. Before handing it back, I'd always say, I know who you are and I know where you live.

There's something else important here, though.
This man "fell in love" with the girl when he thought she was 19 and chose to remain in the relationship after learning she's only twelve. Bad decision. Stupid decision. Immoral decision.
However...
After putting himself in a legally vulnerable position by escalating this to a sexual relationship he put himself at even greater legal risk by calling the police to report that he believes she's been raped in her home.
Whatever the imbalances and wrong-doing in this situation, it's highly possible that he cares what happens to this girl and that she's given him reason to think that she's been the victim of incest in her home.
The parents should be investigated under a very powerful microscope.
I have to process what you said. A 41 yeard old pervert beds a 12 year old girl and he cares about her.
