Scr*w biofuel! Pay the Arabs whatever they want for oil. I need beer!!
To: DeaconBenjamin2
It may become cheaper to drink homebrew. Heck, I may have to plant some barley in the backyard...

Imagine a car that used tequila. You would intend to go one a drive to the corner grocery store only to end-up in Tijuana covered in weird tattoos.

The laws of supply and demand simply mean that as the value of barley rises, so will the number of producers willing to grow it. Prices will then stabilize, and sudz will be saved.

This is serious indeed.
The cost of brewing beer is directly associated with the cost of grain.
No good can come of this gentlemen.
If this trend continues, we might be forced to use *gasp* adjuncts!
Can BMC (BudMillerCoors) be far behind?
Will we be forced to add rice?
Is this the end of Western Civilization as we know it?
I think I need to drink a homebrew and think about it.
On or off the Homebrewers Ping List, let me know.
Cheers,

Futures prices for European malting barley, which is used for brewing and distilling, have risen 85 per cent to more than EUR230 ($320) a tonne since last May. Still well worth the price, though. Heck, at that price, maybe I ought to buy a "tonne" or two.
