As TVNewser first reported yesterday, Fox News sent a letter to John Ferriter, agent of weekend anchor Kiran Chetry, blasting the pair's contract demands and severing relations with his client. Fox and Chetry were in the middle of contract renegotiations.
Fox News legal VP Dianne Brandi writes:
You have treated Fox News with such arrogant disregard that we do not desire to do any further business with you. You refused to enter into good faith negotiations despite your client's statements that she wanted to remain at Fox News and was happy with the renumeration we had offered. You and your client's unprofessional demand that we include a clause in her new agreement which would have been detrimental to other Fox News talent is simply not the way we conduct business.
What was the demand? A TVNewser source speculates it could've had something to do with Chris Knowles, Chetry's husband and Fox News weatherman. (Nah, it won't be too awkward for Knowles in the office or anything. Not at all.)
The letter also stated that Chetry was "free to leave" before her contract expires on March 6.
Well, guess who showed up on CNN this morning filling in for Soledad O'Brien. Kiran Chetry.
No official hiring announcement has been made from CNN.
UPDATE: It's official.
Fox News' letter to Chetry's agent:

They are on after F and F or John Scott, i think.
I haven't seen Lauren on in the mornings lately...what's up with her???
I think FOX lost a good one, IMO. She's a star.

It wasn't about Chris:
"What Fox Is Trying To Do To Kiran Simply Isn't Fair," Tipster Responds
Kiran Chetry wanted Gretchen Carlson fired, a source alleged this morning. But a tipster close to Chetry completely denies that.
"What Fox is trying to do to Kiran simply isn't fair," the tipster says. "For them to insist that Kiran would have ever, ever asked that anyone be fired or replaced, just simply is not true."
"Things had been promised to her in the past," the tipster adds. "She had asked for some clarity as it related to a couple different things... and they were not willing to give her clarity."
> Update: 4:09pm: An FNC executive responds: "Tell Kiran to check with her agent, who made this outrageous demand claiming it was on her behalf."
"Not only did her agent want it written into her new deal that Gretchen would be fired, they wanted the exact date specified," the exec adds.
"Of course they are backpedaling now. They had no idea we would cut her loose like we did. Her agent tried to play hard ball and lost."

I don't think she was any good at the morning show. She's completely boring to listen to.
why on earth would she want Gretchen fired??? So she could have the week day show???
I vote for Melissa Theuriau! Table grade.
CNN is the gold standard when it comes to journalism, and I am thrilled to be part of the team, Chetry said.
cnn is the gold standard????? Fool's gold maybe, hon, but not the real thing!
Not only is she boring...she says, "and the interesting thing is..." EVERY five minutes. I find her unbearable to watch.
Last week she was dissing CNN because their viewrship is nada. Now they're the gold standard? She's an idiot.
Wow! I always liked her on Fox & Friends...better than Gretchen....wish she would have left and Kiren stayed...oh well...
its a cat fight!
I think it says she was promised it and they reneged.
Yep... the weekend show has just plain ole sucked for a few months now. It used to be my favorite time to watch television. Lately it's not watchable.
Which Lauren is that? I don't see Fox much in the mornings. Laurie Dhue was part of Geraldo's now canceled show.
Now if they can getthat left-wing airhead Julie Banderas also over to CNN . . .
was promised what? That Gretchen would be fired??? NO company worth it's salt would ever make a deal like that, let alone talk about someone else's job!!
No, Lauren Green, gave the headlines on the morning show...
Concuerdo. ¡Sí!
