little rebel = Mrs. NewLand, an avid lurker who rarely posts.
I was on "F&F" last May with Kiran, Steve, and Tiki Barber. Barber and Doocy were wonderful, but Kiran was really cold and detached. Cute as heck---more so in person---but I got really bad vibes about her when discussing my book, "America's Victories."
What happened to Laurie Dhue? I really liked her.
E.D. is awful in the job she is doing now. So awful, I don't even watch her. Grinchin...er Gretchen should have been fired. She has ruined F&F for me. I hardly watch that any more. The weekend show is horrible and now they have hired "Barbie". I guess they are tired of good ratings.
LOL! Now I get it. Well, I've only been around for a couple of years so I'm still learning who's who around here. Anyway, your secret is safe with me, no pings to little rebel from me. ;)
In what parallel universe?
I predict Kiran turns Anderson straight.
Anyone is better than the ultra-left wing shill O'Brien. Except maybe the ultra-left wing absurd leather-wearing shill Zahn.
No way Kiran comes back. I'm watching FNF this morning. I think Fox traded up....
Anderson Cooper's show is quite good. His reports on the child sex trade are gripping and without the usual manipulative hype.
"Anyone is better than the ultra-left wing shill O'Brien. Except maybe the ultra-left wing absurd leather-wearing shill Zahn."
LOL! Why don't you tell us how you really feel?
Who cares about all this catty nonsense? Chetry is one of an endless string of stupid infobabes at Fox, which continue to keep the network from looking serious despite great news talent.
Damn! I liked her. Been seduced by the Dark Side
This info had been leaked by un-official sources previously, so not to worry... :-D
Fox News will miss her. The three amigos on this AM are not worth watching. ESPN is more enlightening (sic).
Huh? Don't know if they traded up, or not.....never heard a word she said. I just saw the light...er, I mean...never mind.
"Fox News will miss her. The three amigos on this AM are not worth watching."
Come on! At least ONE of those three amigos is worth watching, don't you think? :)
Could be a disaster. Miller is a smart guy, but his rapid-fire delivery packs in so much that he can only come up with about enough material for two good HBO comedy specials a year. He's good in that venue.
But his Monday Night Football gig and his leaden MSNBC show exposed his weaknesses. He's not that good on his feet without prepared material, he's not a strong interviewer, and his signature trait -- the historical and cultural references that he throws out so apparently effortlessly -- only work when they're planned and scripted. In a stand-up show, he's fantastic. Off the cuff, much less so.
When Miller came out in favor of the Iraq war, he made the rounds - he was on Limbaugh, Hannity, and every other show. The interviews were all good -- and they were all the same. He riffed on his pre-prepared bullet points.
There's a vast gulf between being good at talking and being good on talk radio, which is non-stop improvisation. If W1 is smart, they'll team Miller with a sidekick, like Bill O'Reilly had E.D. Hill and Al Franken had Catherine Lampher. Someone else who can jump in to fill and can chime in with questions for guests or callers. Live radio is a cruel mistress.
I was a guest once on a talk radio show. As an editor at my college paper, I was a guest on a call-in show at the rinky-dink carrier-current campus radio station. We didn't get a single caller -- I mean, not one, in an hour. The host was little help. I didn't know much about radio, but I knew dead air was a Very Bad Thing, and I had to keep talking. I might have recited Dr. Seuss -- the memory is a blur. But I know I've been in mosh pits where I didn't dance that hard or sweat that much.
The point of that little anecdote: In all due modesty, I'm a good writer. I can speak confidently, comfortably and well on a variety of topics. I don't freeze up or get stage fright. But live radio is another beast altogether. You don't have the luxury of scratching your chin with a thoughtful expression on your face, taking a sip of water and clearing your throat while you gather your thoughts. It's a NOW NOW NOW medium, and someone like Rush Limbaugh is one in a million. Like Willie Mays. His genius is in making it look easy.
I'm hopeful, but not optimistic, that Miler can pull it off.
