I find it amusing that you are so sensitive.

Sensitive? No. Tired of it? You bet... as are most of the 240 member Freepers of the Mac Ping list.

They are sick and tired of being called "cultish", "stupid", "smug", "children", "gay", "elitist", "liberals", "users of toy computers", "delusional", "drinkers of the Kool-Aid" and "effete snobs"... all of which have been used on FreeRepublic thread on Macs by ignorant Windows users who love to spout mis-information they have heard or read somewhere just as ignorant.

They did not ask to be members of the Ping list to be insulted about their choice of computers. They do not want to be the target of your snide insults and smarmy remarks. YOUR FUN may be fun for you, but it is NOT FUN for the other 240. That makes you a bigot and a tiresome boor. Neither is funny.

It is almost like using a one button mouse makes a person one dimensional. Seems like a good doctoral thesis.

Make that an ignorant bigot and tiresome boor. I have not used a one button mouse on my main Mac for over 12 years. The new Macs have not shipped with a single button mouse for over a year... and yet you spout that canard. And, again hint that Mac users are psychologically damaged.

The fact is, Duke, most Mac users are far more computer literate than your average PC user. Many of us are required to USE Windows daily. We just choose not to when we have a choice. Mac users are like people who are bi-lingual. We speak both Windows and Mac... and are usually conversant with both.

Mac users have far more experience with both platforms than do most Windows users. Yet YOU claim the arrogant position of critic of our informed decisions. Who is the smug one? From our more informed position it is you, who are so certain of your superiority out of familiarity with only one platform. You are pitiful.

It is especially pathetic considering the DLL hell and infections and invasions you Windows users have to put up with on their computers. . . something OS X users have not had to contend with for over five years.

There used to be several Freepers that would hit every Mac thread with "I'd use a Mac but I'm not gay." There's humor, and there's being annoying. I love zingers, even those aimed at me, if they're clever or new, but that line was posted on every thread, usually by the same three people, as if it was a wickedly new insult. One of the hazards of a place like FR is that sometimes the dialogue starts getting circular. I remember on Johnny Carson, he did a bit once where he had a funeral for Dolly Parton jokes. It was a great bit. He was standing in a graveyard, IIRC, with headstones around with things like "Knock, Knock" on them.

I'd like to see a graveyard for "Bush's fault", "Bushbots", "WODers", "Hugh" and "Serious".

I think that's a bit of a short-sighted way of looking at it. In fact, you have had to contend with it many ways for years. When the zombie windows boxes spew spam, crap, worms and whatnot, you see it in a decrease of network performance, hundreds of unwanted spam in your inbox and having your systems that are on the internet constantly banged on by MS-worms trying to propagate.

We don't pay for the shoddy crap that Microsoft puts out directly, but we do ultimately pay in a poorer internet experience.

Well, you know, taking offense at every little joke is pretty cultish. Scientolgists do it. Linux users do it. Global Warming(TM) believers do it. etc. etc. and ever and ever. Amen.

If it walks like a cult and quacks like a cult, am I to assume it's a ham sandwich?

In a free society everything can be made fun of. Except Aqua Teen Hunger Force. That's too serious to make light of.

But cultish behavior, without being able to make fun of that all discourse stops.

It might surpise you to know that PC owners feel the same way (assuming I have interpreted your confusing sentence the way you intended). I have no idea how you justify your existence in your own mind, but to me you and golden eagle are the same bird.
