Dad Tosses Son's Wrestling Opponent Out Of Ring

(AP) AURORA, Ill. -- A father bounded into a youth wrestling match, picked up his son's winning opponent and launched him out of the ring, an episode caught on a home video.

After tossing the 11-year-old boy into the air Sunday, the angry father headed toward the cameraman, the father of the airborne boy.

"I was just wrestling, then the guy throws me," the boy, Nick Nasenbeny of suburban Aurora, told WMAQ-TV in Chicago. It was not known if the boy was injured.

Ray Hoffman, the father in the video and a part-time wrestling coach, told the television station he regrets his behavior and feels embarrassed. He said his son's shoulder was injured. Hoffman also said he will no longer be allowed to coach.

Dean Bogess, a wrestling coach who attended the meet, said Nick was using a legal move to pin his opponent and that the referee was about to stop the match when Hoffman intervened.

"The match was being stopped. He had blown his whistle already," Bogess said.

Nick's father, Dan Nasenbeny, said he was stunned by Hoffman's actions.

"I mean, there is a lot of different ways to stop a match. Not to pick up my son and launch him 5 feet, 10 feet in the air," Nasenbeny said.

Hoffman did not return messages left by The Associated Press.

Assault on a child. Why hasn't the guy been arrested and charged?

GIving the guy the benefit of the doubt, he saw that his son was injured and in pain, and thought the ref wasn't stopping the match and his son was being further injured, he might in the moment jump in to stop the damage.

He did throw the kid pretty hard, so maybe he was mad and thought the other boy was purposely continuing to hurt his son.

But the news reported that he was "mad" that his son was "losing", and I don't think that was the case, if you believe this story.

I would never say all wrestlers are gay, especially because it helps train some of the best Offensive Linemen (and some Defensive Linemen) in football.

However, a guy I knew in Highschool who was a very highly ranked wrestler told me his secret move was to reach around and "stroke my apponent's 'nugs'.  Match over."

I've always had some doubts about the sport since then.

it was probably just a joke.

I saw a clip of this.this father had better hope that he can demonstrate that his son was in immanent danger of harm when he threw this kid otherwise he's gonna need a good lawyer.

Actually two lawyers...criminal and civil.

No way. Check out the video.

After tossing the kid, he doesn't even *look* at his own son, or the ref, he stands and points at the cameraman and sure looks mad to me.

The joke goes: That he broke the formerly unbreakable Pretzel hold by looking up and seeing a "set" in front of his face. So he reached up and bit them very hard. The hold was broken immediately, as they were his own.

The look on the ref's face is priceless. Looks like the ref was in the act of stopping the match when the super jock muscle head father came to his little boys rescue.

Would you "let's throw a guy in jail for 40 years for jaywalking" people just take a second and get a grip on reality for a minute. Was it a stupid thing to do?? Yes, absolutely. Was the kid hurt??? No. What good to society could possibly come from prosecuting this guy, bankrupting him and his family, having them lose their home, get divorced, and end up on public welfare????? Huh????? Over a wrestling match. And apparently you endorse sodomizing people as a form of punishment with some amount of glea. God have mercy on your soul.

People who exercise violent force against children for no apparent reason need to be locked (or strung) up. I'm not big on the 'benefit to society' angle, I'm fine with punishment as its own reward... but if you want to go that route, then the benefit is that while in prison he would definitely not be attacking more children.

As for his family -- if he acts like that in a public place, where he's known, and knows he's on camera, imagine how he treats his family in the privacy of their home.

Please spare me the moral outrage. Violent force???? I was tossed around harder than that by my big brother. More of the feminization of America at work here.

If you believe that a grown man should be allowed to deliberately knock somebody else's child across the room without warning or provocation, then you are beyond hope. The only symptom of feminization in this case is that the other kid's dad didn't beat the living snot out of him.
