What a strange thread.

I clicked on it and can't read a thing that is written.

All I get is a sound like Charlie Brown's teacher.

"My husband, while very charming in many ways, has an annoying tendency of doing exactly the opposite of what I would like him to do in many situations," Chartrand said in a release...

Psychologists describe the behavior at "reactance" -- a person's tendency to resist social influences that they perceive as threats to their autonomy.

Happy Valentine Day to everyone.

Were I to be nagged at even for a short period of time I believe that some serious thought into the cause would be in order. If I found that my actions were a source of aggravation and the request were legitimate then a correction would be in order.

If I found that the spouse was just looking for fault to excuse their nagging at me then the nagging had best stop if the spouse wanted to continue our marriage. There is no way that I would put up with that type of behavior over a long period of time.

One of the smartest women I know manipulates her husband instead of nagging him.

Here is an example, told by her " Honey, if we hurry and finish cleaning the house this morning, this afternoon you can go with me to Victoria's Secret and help me pick out something".

Or: "If you vac the rug today, perhaps we could find something a little kinky to do tonight in front of the fireplace".

Or:" You want me to wear the maids outfit we found at Victoria's Secret, while we clean house"?

You get the idea.

"My husband, while very charming in many ways, has an annoying tendency of doing exactly the opposite of what I would like him to do in many situations," Chartrand said in a release.

"I henpeck my husband to death and for some reason he ignores it instead of smacking me."

Strange thing to study.... He ignores you 'cuz he doesn't want to go to jail.
