The legislation would also ban bar from refusing to serve customers based on such factors as their race, sex, religion, and nation origin. So if a bar cuts off a minority, they put themself at legal risk.
Great piece of legislation.

Ouch, a Pubbie, too. Exactly why I won't join or give money to a party.

The funniest part is that race, I assume, had nothing to do with the alledged incident.
But they just tack that clause right on there.
BS.

The bar tells a different story and claims he didnt order anything at all. Um, you can't forcibly eject people from your place of business for not buying anything.
Pretty weak defense by the bar.

All 50 states and Washington, D.C. are crammed with full-time, professional lawmakers. Making laws is what they do; if they don't make laws, they can't go back home and show their constituents what fine lawmakers they are so they can get re-elected and go on making laws.
We're in big, big trouble...

What a dumbass move by the bar owners. Thye will have MADD, SADD, and every other ADD on their tails from now on.

Does every single incident that happens require new legislation???? Why yes, of course. All of the world's problems would disappear if we just had enough laws... and spent enough money.
I hope the sarcasm was obvious.

There has to be more to the story that isn't being reported.
Most of the bars I frequent are more than happy to provide water or soft drinks to people who claim to be designated drivers - sometimes even free of charge.
I don't see how a barkeep in his right mind would not allow a group's designated driver to stick around. If DDs weren't allowed, imagine the liability that the bar would face if people in that group were involved in an auto accident after leaving the bar.

Hmmm ... in a few months might the bar reopen as Gary's Old Town Tavern?

Does every single incident that happens require new legislation???? Apparently. Sometimes I wonder if these clowns get up in the morning and read the paper looking for dumb ass stories to use as rational for more micro-managing laws.

The guy couldn't have bought just one beer and then sipped on it or held it for the rest of the night?
