I've probably seen lots of pictures of this place/area, but I finally learned its name. Spectacular coastal karst. This is a World Heritage Site -- deservedly.

TOPICS: Arts/Photography; Education; Science; Travel
KEYWORDS: coastal; erosion; karst; vietnam
Odds are I'll never visit this place in person -- pictures will have to do.

Even though it's not, this looks like where Francisco Scaramanga's place was in the James Bond flik "The Man with the Golden Gun". It's beautiful all the same.

Bond's islands in one of his recent movies. He sky-dived into the region.

A colleague of mine is from Vietnam - he escaped with his family durig the fall - and returned for the first time three years ago. He did a slide show of pictures for us. He had some pictures of this place. Beautiful, haunting. Earth is a purty place.
