January 30, 2007, Tuesday, FULMINATE

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today. Tomorrow I’m bringing in chains, so beware.

The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer. I’m just letting all the new students know that we behave as if we were ladies and gentlemen in here. Those two words “as if” can get you an A if you make the subbie laugh.

FULMINATE

Pronunciation: ful-mi-‘nate

Inflected Form(s): -nat·ed; -nat·ing

1: To send forth censures or invectives - ful·mi·na·tion

Noun

I'm sure he has the nifty fifty, but I also know he won't be giving it to me.

It's okay, Soaring Feather. It's a joke about Focault's Pendulum's t-shirt. He's owed that to me for four years for being the 700th person on his thread. It's now a joke.

It's fun when you do that, and I always remind Focault of that. He's got more excuses than I could ever think of thinking.

It is 43 and gloomy again, with rain predicted for tonight. I'm off to work at a place I've only been to once before-hope I can find it again-I'll come to class later...

"Bumping doughnuts" would be the operative euphemism, though its degree of politeness is up to debate.
