I read you shouldn't take the biggest or smallest of the litter, but I also read how to "test" a puppy. Even though he's the smallest puppy he was relaxed when I held him, relaxed when I put him in the cruk of my arm and looked me in the eyes for a long time. He was alert and looked when I clapped and he was the only one who cocked his head to say "what" when I talked to him. He held his own with the other puppies without being too rambunctous. He allowed me to hold him out with no other support and didn't squirm and looked me in the eyes, he allowed me to put him on his back and played and swatted at my fingers. He did all the right things you want from a puppy except he was the "runt" of the litter. I was assured that there should only be a difference in height of all the puppies of about 2 inches anyway. I'll post more pictures when I get him in 3 weeks, in the interm I will visit and handle him as much as possible so that the move is less stressful for him. On to the pictures!

It's the avocado oil and the brewer's yeast that shines up the coat, I think -- although all those vitamins probably don't hurt.
The stuff is pretty darned pricey - almost a dollar a pound - but fortunately they don't eat that much and it takes awhile for two dogs to get through a 20 pound bag. Shelley is maintained on 2 cups a day, while Ruby still growing gets 3 cups a day.
One interesting side effect is that they produce a significantly smaller amount of waste on this food.
He is the cutest little thing, and it will be fun to watch him grow.
If I didn't accidentally become a poodle owner I was going to get a chocolate lab.
I used to go the driving range every day and the owner had one and I used to play with her every day (Peanut Marie). What an amazing dog, i would be on all fours and this dog used to inflict some serious head-butts to me that brought occasional blood and bruises, I didn't care.
That puppy is gorgeous, I can't stop thinking about my puppy.
What a sweet boy! I know you miss him. It's a shame we have them for so short a time.
I'm sorry about your poodle, do you have another poodle yet. If not I hope my puppy pictures inspire you to get yourself another magnificent poodle, you really can't miss with this breed, there may be some differences, but you know they're going to be smart and love your family.
My goal in life is to be able to own a bunch of poodles and have a pack. I can't get enough of these dogs, it's like always having a child at their best, most joyous age.

She has clicked my teeth together a couple of times jumping up and hitting me on the chin. Trying to discourage jumping, and we seem to be making a dent.
She's started going out with me to places to socialize now. We went to our hairdresser to watch my husband get his hair cut . . . she was good as gold. Sat for awhile and watched hubby getting trimmed, then went to visit all the ladies under the dryers (she thought that was pretty interesting) and speak to the assistants in the back. Then she lay on the floor in the waiting room and greeted everyone with a wagging tail. Didn't jump up on anyone (except one person who invited her into her lap for "sugar" . . . probably got more than she expected but she seemed to enjoy it.) Everybody remarked on how well behaved she was . . . she seems to know when she's "on show" and was very sedate and calm.
When we went out to the barn she sat very calmly in her crate in the back of my truck and watched me take a lesson - was a little afraid of the horses at first, but we introduced her to a couple of fat friendly ponies and then to my big mare, who's very quiet and nice. Then she sat in the middle of the ring with my trainer and watched a lesson from the inside -- by then she was all right with horses. My trainer remarked that she was so much better behaved than Shelley when Shelley was that age . . . she was a little horror, I guess I must have learned something or else this girl just is not as crazy.
It's worse than "Let me tell you about my grandchildren!" I was at a continuing legal education seminar awhile back, and one of the things they were discussing was confidentiality. The moderator gave an example of something that was marginally confidential, and called on me. I said, "That's a close one, my theory is 'when in doubt, don't talk about stuff outside the office', so I won't." She asked, "What do you talk about with your friends?"
I answered . . . slight pause for effect . . . "My dogs. Just ask anybody here."
Half the room broke up laughing, and the other half was like, "Huh?"
Looks like he had a rough week at work! What kind of doggie is he?
lol...That's what the vet asked us when we first brought him in.
Jake "works" at the designer/vintage boutique in Englewood, NJ. He's very popular! He lays on a white rug similar to his hair and sometimes when he gets up people are freaked out!
The groomers door is 15 feet from ours so there's a dog's welcome sign in the store, Jake has never misbehaved with any person or dog in 2 years. He did bark at a policeman who came to the store once, he hasn't barked at any uniformed people since.
Thank you. It's been four years since PeeWee, but I tell you, he's always in my heart. I actually broke down and got not another poodle, but two. I love this breed of dog. I used to raise them.
I lived in England for three years when I was younger, and brought back a beautiful pair from there. The English lineage is beyond comparison. There is so much intelligence bred into line, it's amazing. I've always tried to find that link whenever I find a new "friend".
I refer to our family as "the Pack", so I chuckle at your comment. Having a Poodle is like having a wonderful five year old, for always.
