Two Tacoma police officers shot and killed two dogs Wednesday morning on the East Side. Both officers were bitten in the incident and taken to a local hospital for treatment, police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.
The officers were leaving a call when they spotted two pit bulls attacking another dog in an alley near East 62nd Street and East McKinley Avenue shortly after 10 a.m. A woman had been walking the third dog, described as resembling a German shepherd, when the pit bulls, which had been running free, attacked, Fulghum said.
The officers pulled over and tried to stopped the attack. One of the officers used a Taser on the male pit bull but the stun gun had no effect, Fulghum said.
The pit bull continued his attack and turned toward the officers. When he approached, one of the officers shot and killed the dog.
The second pit bull, a female pit bull, ran off, Fulghum said.
The officers then went to help the woman and her dog when that dog attacked and bit the two officers. The officers tried to stun the dog with a Taser, Fulghum said.
It didnt work, either, he said.
The officers then shot and killed the dog.

The entire article says they found the other pit bull (alive) and found the owner of the pit bull. I'm hoping that only the one pit bull was killed and not the lady's dog.
I grew up on the East side and it is probably more dangerous than the Hilltop area. Gang bangers, pit bulls, dogs of all types running around and bullets firing, it's a rough area no matter the time of day.
*kiss of death*
Good Night All.
There is something darkly comical in this story.
I'm surprized they didn't shoot the woman too...
Gunfight at The Canine Corral....
Pit Bull dogs should be identified, rounded up into Pit Bull dog concentration camps and eradicated. Or just shot on the spot, whichever.
Instead of posting flame bait why not use your time wisely and read the whole article...
"Animal control officers responded to the scene and found the female pit bull that had run away from the attack, Fulghum said. The pit bull was taken into custody. Animal control officers also had located the pit bulls owner."
Its too bad the reporter didnt get to interview the owner for the standard quote about how the sweet pit bull has never hurt anybody before.
A happy ending is NOT killing the dog the police started out to rescue.
Here ya go...satiate your blood lust with this one...
FOUR KILLED IN SAVAGE DOG ATTACK
After veiwing that thread, I may never be the same.
But for me, that's an improvement.
Thanks.
What a yarn that is!
Ummmm...
This is the happy ending I was referring to:
"The remaining four puppies and their mother are now at the Escambia County Animal Shelter. Bradford faces felony animal cruelty charges."
in the post above my first one.
Did I miss something?
BTW, I'm a cat person but I looove German Shepherds. The original post was an unfunny comedy of errors.
FWIW the video at the following link gives some indication that the third dog was a Lab
and that it was the dog that bit the cop's leg causing a "gushing" wound.

Thanks for posting this, kanawa. Sad deal all around, looked and sounded like the womans dog was a black Lab.
I guess I can't blame them for shooting the Lab when the officers were attacked but I learned many years ago not to get near two fighting dogs, they'll go after you.
Want on my GS ping list?
I like cats too. But glad to see even though you have no GS, you know how to SPELL it!
Nothing solid about type of dog. 1 man on the video said "Lab", but we saw no pix.
He ("Lab") or this article ("resembling a German shepherd" [sic]) may have been right, or completely wrong. So, basically, we don't know what kind of dog the woman had.
Again fwiw here's a screen grab from the video...
Do the ears look pointy to you?
By "pointy" what I mean is having prick ears.
