The problem is that it undermines the traditional Christian teaching that the Church is the bride of Christ. Christ as the archetype of husband to the Church as archetype of wife is most clearly stated in Ephesians chap 5.
The idea that someone who does not get married and have children is being disobedient to God is very strange to me. When the disciples suggests that "it is better not to marry", Christ responds there are some who "have renounced marriage for the kingdom of heaven" and rather than chastise them he instead says "he one who can accept this should accept it." However if you would, one could say that Christ gives life to children of God through the Church.

I'm not a guy who can quote chapter and verse, but I seem to remember something in the Bible which talks about following up on "useless geneologies". Am I mistaken?

I respect your position. The Catholics have been very nice to my family while my daughter attends a Catholic girl's school.
The verse I quoted is a commandment from the old testament given by God to Adam and Eve. I realize Catholic doctrine does not recognize it as a commandment for all. There is much good in the Catholic and Evangelical movements however the Catholics have been much more tolerant than the Evangelicals who would not allow my daughter to attend their school.
