PATS' SACK DANCE TICKS OFF TOMLINSON (Class Alert)
NY Post | 1/15/07 | Mark Cannizzaro

Posted on 01/15/2007 4:22:26 AM PST by beyond the sea

LaDanian Tomlinson, usually very mild-mannered, became incensed after the Chargers' 24-21 loss to the Patriots yesterday when some New England players began mocking Shawne Merriman's sack dance on the Chargers' logo.

"I was very upset," said Tomlinson, who went after some of the New England players. "I would never react that way. I'm a very, very classy person. When you go to the middle of a field and you're doing the dance that Merriman does, that's disrespectful to me and I can't sit there and watch that. It showed no class at all, and maybe that comes from their head coach."

Everyone in the house knew the Patriots' first priority yesterday was going to be trying to stop Tomlinson, who scored an NFL-record 31 touchdowns this season.

Tomlinson, though, came right out and gashed the Patriots' defense and did it repeatedly throughout the game, rushing for 123 yards and two TDs. In fact, Tomlinson was generally the Chargers' first option on almost every offensive series. Tomlinson gained 81 of his rushing yards on 10 first-down carries.

""" I was pissed late in the game when Tom dropped back to pass and planted and SLIPPED on that paint on the field....... that paint they use for the team's insignia. Something should be done about that really. They new turf was a big enough problem."""

Turf is the same for both teams, it doesn't magically change to cause Brady to slip and nobody else.

No kidding, genius.

But I always prefer the outcomes of important games, games which all these men have worked toward all season long, NOT to be determined by luck or bad luck when it is easily avoidable.

There is no reason that paint cannot be applied to the field with an abrasive like river sand in it ....... FOR BOTH TEAMS' benefit.

Got it, Guru?

Google his name....lots of stuff...

Gastineau retired in the middle of the 1988 season to spend more time with actress Brigitte Nielsen but later admitted the real reason was his fear of failing another drug test and of the Jets learning he was using anabolic steroids. In 1990, Gastineau tried a comeback with the British Columbia Lions in the Canadian Football League but played in only four games. A year later, he began a career in boxing. Gastineau had several run-ins with the law, including drug-possession and domestic violence, and spent eleven months in prison for parole violatons in 1999.

In recent times, Gastineau has become a changed person and hopes to have put his turbulent past behind him.[1]

The NFL is a ruined entity. I can't stand watching the games. All it is is a bunch of hoodlums who want to fight. That is all it is. They are all bad sports. Look who the advertisers are trying to appeal to.

The amount of luck involved in football is incredible. Just how that damned ball bounces is luckluckluck. One time I saw a ball only a couple of yards from me.....as I jumped toward it I was passed by fifty other players who beat me to it.

That's a slight exaggeration, but you get the point.

Just a little slip of one of your steps will give a runner that needed inch to get past you. Just a slight bump from one of your own players will take you from that needed angle to intercept a pass. Or, worse yet, is when you hit a runner and one of your team mates hits him on the opposite side, correcting his balance and he runs for a TD.

AARGH! You don't forget things like that.

Now....to get to work.....

I played 2-4 times a week starting in the late 70's......into the mid 80's.

Rarely play nowadays.....One indoor place to play...28 miles from me.

I can still play though.....even though I'm packing some extra poundage. Ha!!

FRegards,

I lost all respect for Belichick after an incident two years ago in a playoff game against the Steelers when Belichick shoved a Steelers trainer who was just offering medical assistance to an injured Patriots player.

Exactly the incident I had in mind. Also, his behavior last week with the cameraman was disgusting.

Unlike you (most likely), I have a job, so I might have rushed my typing a bit. Typical Pats fan. As classless as their coach.

What is a "sack dance," and why is it considered "disrespectful?"

Does it include some borderline obscene gesturing, akin to Michael Jackson's crotch-clutching, or what?

It is sad because growing up, I used to love the game. My Dad and I used to watch the NFL on the weekends (When I was back home, We were big 49er fans) but now this pop culture crap has ruined it. One time analyze how the game is being covered who gets the special coverage, who gets all the sob stories told about them so everybody will feel for them. Every one of them has some story coming out of the hood and we the audience should feel for them and make them like heroes or something. The worse is Brent Musberger. I know he doesn't cover a lot of football games but when he covered the Little League Series, it was sickening just having to listen to his drivel. When he was covering that team from harlem, the one where the kid was disqualified because he was too old, well before he was thrown out, we had to hear everything about him through the whole broadcast. it was like the other kids, on the other tema weren't even on the other side playing the game; was that because all of those kids happened to be white? I think so.

LT--does that stand for Lame Tool? If he were really classy he wouldn't have said anything but "congrats to the better team." I wanted the Chargers to win this week, but way for the MVP to come off like a crybaby. He should have told his friend Steroids McGee to not do the dance throughout his suspension-shortened season.

LOL, it works too well. Congrats on the win yesterday. Even if I would like to see some fresh faces in the Big Show, there's no denying the power of the Pats in the Playoffs. Good luck next week.
