PATS' SACK DANCE TICKS OFF TOMLINSON (Class Alert)
NY Post | 1/15/07 | Mark Cannizzaro

Posted on 01/15/2007 4:22:26 AM PST by beyond the sea

LaDanian Tomlinson, usually very mild-mannered, became incensed after the Chargers' 24-21 loss to the Patriots yesterday when some New England players began mocking Shawne Merriman's sack dance on the Chargers' logo.

"I was very upset," said Tomlinson, who went after some of the New England players. "I would never react that way. I'm a very, very classy person. When you go to the middle of a field and you're doing the dance that Merriman does, that's disrespectful to me and I can't sit there and watch that. It showed no class at all, and maybe that comes from their head coach."

Everyone in the house knew the Patriots' first priority yesterday was going to be trying to stop Tomlinson, who scored an NFL-record 31 touchdowns this season.

Tomlinson, though, came right out and gashed the Patriots' defense and did it repeatedly throughout the game, rushing for 123 yards and two TDs. In fact, Tomlinson was generally the Chargers' first option on almost every offensive series. Tomlinson gained 81 of his rushing yards on 10 first-down carries.

Brady has never lost an AFC championship game nor a Super Bowl.

Brady has also never lost in a dome. In fact, Kraft installed artificial turf on the Patriots field a few weeks ago just to help simulate a "dome" atmosphere for Brady. It seems to have worked. Pats haven't lost at home since.

Except Saban's actually getting paid less per year at Alabama than he was at Miami.

I think Dillon and Maroney will get the ball a lot last week. However unlike KC and BAL the Pats play calling will be much better.

The turf also helps the Pats defensive linemen. When they get traction they can really get a push.

"I love their NFL's greatest games show."

Yeah my favorite part of NFL network. My wife is even more addicted to it than I am.

She is a latecomer to being a football fan but she has surpassed me in her football mania. She is always looking for older NFL games and stuff because she wants to know what terms like Jack-Ham-like tenacity really means. She even looks forward to NFL Europe and Arena football!

True however college ball is a different animal and one tends to stay longer and end up with much less crap to deal with.

Earlier this week they replayed the 1980 divisional playoff game between Dallas and Atlanta. There were a lot of similarities between that game and the NE-SD game yesterday.

"I was amazed to see him get so bent out of shape about the "dancing" and then to me it was even WORSE to basically blame it on Belichick. That was low."

He's coming off an emotionally devestating loss and he let it get the best of him. He'll regret that this will get the focus. He's a great player and SD is a very good team. They just happen to be playing the Patriots who are simply one of those "dynasty" type teams. They just win.

Yes, one does tend to stay longer when signing a deal worth 8 years, instead of sticking with the deal that has 3 years left on it.

I am more and more inclined to give him a pass on his comments, because it was so "non LT like". He really is a well spoken young man, and does alot for the San Diego community.

I think he was a bit upset at not carrying the ball as much as he normally does. Several times int he last quarter, when the camera was on him, I thought he just looked pissed, unhappy.

They should have ridden LT into the dirt in the second half. They would have won the game.---

One thing may I say.... I was pissed late in the game when Tom dropped back to pass and planted and SLIPPED on that paint on the field....... that paint they use for the team's insignia. Something should be done about that really. They new turf was a big enough problem.

Go Pats.........

"Belichek is classless. LT is just pointing out the obvious."

I lost all respect for Belichick after an incident two years ago in a playoff game against the Steelers when Belichick shoved a Steelers trainer who was just offering medical assistance to an injured Patriots player. He's a classless jerk. Hoping for a Colts romp this weekend, at least Tony Dungy is a class act.
