A Long Island man has been arrested for allegedly ordering his dog to attack three police officers who arrived at his house after getting a call about a domestic dispute.
A woman in Holtsville reportedly called police to say that a dispute with her live-in boyfriend, Dwight Jackson, had turned physical.
When the three police officers arrived at the scene, Jackson allegedly told his dog to attack them. Two of the officers fired their weapons at the dog. One of the officers was treated for a leg injury.
Jackson was charged with assault and harassment and is scheduled to be arraigned today in Central Islip. The dog's injuries were not immediately known. It was taken to the Selden Emergency Animal Hospital.
Cruelty is the intentional torture of an animal.
The owner did not torture the animal. The police shot the animal, again NOT torture.
Animal Cruelty, an offense which isn't codified everywhere thankfully, is an idiotic crime that is bound to be misused. Sure there are folks who deserve to pay for the crime of being cruel to animals, however you have slipped down the slope as will many others by applying "cruelty" to every thing that happens to animals that you personally find distasteful. Nice socialist attitude there bud, I'll have none of it thanks.
If you sit a bowl of antifreeze down and a dog drinks it, dying a slow painful death ~ thats cruelty.
If you train a dog to protect you and command him to attack police who shoot him ~ thats cruelty.
You don't command a dog to bite into a 15,000 volt powercable, knowing it will kill him.
When you have to make up scenarios and say "it's just like..." you are STRETCHING.
Every bad thing that happens to an animal is not "cruelty", deal with it.
Try to make a post without putting a catchy phrase at the end like "deal with it" or "Nice socialist attitude there bud".
Nobody likes that.
Your comment was fine and bordered on civilized until the "deal with it" at the end.
I know everything that happens to dogs is not cruelty but commanding him to go into situation where you know well he will be injured or killed is cruel.
Got it?
Well you and your sensibilities are wrong. As much as you dislike "deal with it" I really ultra double-plus dislike people stretching the law to create pile-on situations. So too bad.
Why is it any stretch, jerk?
It's animal cruelty. You may not think so, but that wold make your opinion dead-dog wrong. It would also make you an uncaring scum.
He's not wrong, you are. Deal with it.
DG, I don't think this scumag PSO MF is worth the electrons. He's clearly an ignorant animal hater. His mom probably botle fed him. There' some kind of complex going on there.
You ever heard of a metaphor used to explain what you're saying.
Did they teach you that in lawschool?
I am thinking more along the lines of lawschool professor, but yeah, I'll take your explaination too, LOL
Want to explain what PSO MF means?
Sure try this one on. To charge this man with animal cruelty because his dog was shot would be similar to charging a deer hunter with animal cruelty because he shot a deer. In both instances, the man or hunter caused the animal to be shot so it must be cruelty. See how stretching works?
Please sit on my finger?
ordering a dog to commit "suicide by cop" isn't cruelty?
BWAAHHAHHAHA
Deers are hunted game, numbnuts.
Dogs are domestic.
They don't grown them very smart down your way, do they?
My metaphors at least stayed on the same subject.
sorry,
I think the smartassitude took over!
Ok, what if I intentionally put a dog down, with my sidearm? Is that cruel?
Grow up.
