As we settle into the nighttime of dispair, fret not, for the Sun will rise again!!
Good morning!!
We, here, will never forget those who died on September 11, 2001, as we seek to protect the Republic from all who will do her harm!!
It's over, he's gone. Saddam Hussein was hung last night in Iraq at just after 10 PM ET, or just after 6 AM ET local time.
The person who filmed the execution said that he saw fear in Saddam's eyes while he was on the gallows.
United States troops are said to be ready for a surge in violence, but the biggest event so far was spontaneous celebrating in Baghdad streets. The Government did not impose a 24-hour curfew.
A last minute appeal was lodged into the United States court system. The United States District Court summarily dismissed the measure, saying it had no jurisdiction over foreign matters.
Saddam was asked if he had anything to say, and he answered: "No, I don't want to." He did, however, say somthing before he was hung. His last words are: "'God is great. The nation will be victorious and Palestine is Arab."
True to the end, however, those who have no respect for human life, but coach themselves as watchers of human rigts, said things like that of Richard Dicker, director of Human Rights Watch's International Justice Program: "Saddam Hussein was responsible for massive human rights violations, but that can't justify giving him the death penalty, which is a cruel and inhuman punishment." In response to Mr. Dicker--one cannot hold life sacred unless one is willing to hold those repsonsible for taking in wihtout cause to the highest penalty. Fortunately, for Iraq, that has now come to pass, and the healing for many hundreds of thousands may begin.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
I believe anything these days.
Magic pills/devices needed for a myriad of weaknesses here......
Good Morning and Happy New Year.
You are correct, I was reading old emails and when I looked at the clock, 2007 was an hour old.
It does not look like a winner year, the Broncos Quarterback was shot in a drive by shooting 3 hours ago, he and at least 2 others.
Daraant Williams has died.
Prayers will be needed, as he was a 24 year old man.
The shooting was at 11th and Speer, in Denver.
It is breaking news from 850koa.com in Denver.
The police spokesperson was just on the radio, said they know nothing about who did the shooting, evidently shot into the Limo the 3 were in, no names or sex for the other 2 as yet.
I will loose the station on the radio any minute.
How tragic!
I was 5 minutes late to welcoming in the new year )slow clock)! I wouldn't have even been awake except that my daughter is here and we were enjoying each other's company....forgot about the midnight turning over into 2007. (I guess I really don't understand that mob of people willing to endure whatever to watch a ball drop.)
Sweetie, I had a wonderful dream about you last night. I hardly ever dream...or at least remember them. This one I remember. Prayers continue.
Chair, thank you for the tremendous job you do each day posting ATRW. You have created a "family" that laughs together, cries together and shares it's joys and griefs, rants and raves.
Your openings are always interesting and insightful and I hope that they bring you as much joy and pleasure as they do ATRW's posters and lurkers.
Happy New Year to you and yours.
It would be real hard for me to be in that crowd even if someone paid me 1 million dollars. Although, I would think about it and question how long I would have to stay there. LOL
Greg made breakfast pizza. Yum!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
May 2007 bring you new and unfound joys, and blessings without end.
Did you know that people in those "corrals" actually had been standing there since 2:00 p.m. on the 31st AND there were no bathroom facilities. Once in you couldn't leave and get back in.
Not for me, not even for $1,000,000!
Thank you. You, too!!
Isn't that horrible!
I couldn't stand to be in that mob of people, either.
Back in the 50s my aunt did that. First thing..someone stole her purse.
(Holding your breath will bring on health problems that universal health care will not cure.)
Let me restate that. She didn't go to NYC just for that. She was a student at Traphagen School of Fashion in NYC.
Then again, I would imagine they all took their trash home with them. /s
Aren't there some civil rights violations involved when people are prevented from leaving and when public toilet facilities are not provided? Where is Jesse Jackson when he's needed? ;)
