As we settle into the nighttime of dispair, fret not, for the Sun will rise again!!
Good morning!!
We, here, will never forget those who died on September 11, 2001, as we seek to protect the Republic from all who will do her harm!!
It's over, he's gone. Saddam Hussein was hung last night in Iraq at just after 10 PM ET, or just after 6 AM ET local time.
The person who filmed the execution said that he saw fear in Saddam's eyes while he was on the gallows.
United States troops are said to be ready for a surge in violence, but the biggest event so far was spontaneous celebrating in Baghdad streets. The Government did not impose a 24-hour curfew.
A last minute appeal was lodged into the United States court system. The United States District Court summarily dismissed the measure, saying it had no jurisdiction over foreign matters.
Saddam was asked if he had anything to say, and he answered: "No, I don't want to." He did, however, say somthing before he was hung. His last words are: "'God is great. The nation will be victorious and Palestine is Arab."
True to the end, however, those who have no respect for human life, but coach themselves as watchers of human rigts, said things like that of Richard Dicker, director of Human Rights Watch's International Justice Program: "Saddam Hussein was responsible for massive human rights violations, but that can't justify giving him the death penalty, which is a cruel and inhuman punishment." In response to Mr. Dicker--one cannot hold life sacred unless one is willing to hold those repsonsible for taking in wihtout cause to the highest penalty. Fortunately, for Iraq, that has now come to pass, and the healing for many hundreds of thousands may begin.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
I win!!!
isn't is amazing what we do for amusement?
My work is done...anyone have a cig?
Corn, lettuce, etc. aren't worth the labor, as far as I am concerned. And carrots don't do well here because the soil is too heavy.
Besides, I can surround the tomatoes and peppers with marigolds and zinnias so it will still look pretty!
Well that's better!
Here I thought you were next going to purchase an Earth Shoe franchise.
I know you'll enjoy your cottage garden. Planning is half the fun!
offering up an Salem Light.
argh
Fog and light mist seems to be the rule for the past several days. Still some snow on the ground, but its slowly melting away.
Yep... the days are now getting longer! ; )
Went to Mass last night, so everyone's sleeping in this morning. There was a threat of freezing rain overnight, and into the morning. We thought it better to get to Mass on Saturday.
When Larry and I married and put together our blended family of 12 children, we only had one name duplication and that is our MIKE'S. So, we distingush them by saying Marine Mike or Fire Chief Mike. Well, our Fire Chief Mike and his wife and son are in Thailand for the Christmas season and I just heard there has been a bombing by Muslim extremists in Bangkok.
Please keep our family in your prayers.
We sure are, Bev. ((Bev and family))
How are YOU doing?
Oh, Bev, you, your Firehouse Mike, and all your family are in my prayers. Sorrows, like rain, comes in downpours and often swamps us. May Mike eventually find some heart's ease.
This has been the saddest year for our family! I do appreciate your prayers.
(((((Bev)))))
Prayers lifted.
Here is the email I just sent to family and friends.
New Year's Eve morning......As most of you know, our son (Fire Chief) Mike and his wife Charmaine and son Matthew are in Thailand for the Christmas season. They are visiting her parents.
This morning, there were 7 bombs exploded in Bangkok and they knew I would be worried so they just called to reassure me all is well with them. Prayers have been answered!
They have been unable to send or receive email in Thailand since the recent earthquake in Taiwan destroyed the underground cable system. So, they didn't not know about the death of their sister-in-law Lynn. They are in shock as the rest of us are and send their love to Mike.
Please continue to pray for our family - your prayers are much appreciated. With our love, ABC
They are in a coastal village south of Bangkok and are quite safe at this time. As a matter of fact, they were at a HUGE New Year's party and the noise was LOUD.
I will be happier when they are back home.
>>My work is done...anyone have a cig?
I quit on Thanksgiving weekend
So glad they thought to contact you immediately. One less thing to be heavy on your mind.
Prayers continue.
(((Mike))) All of you ramily are in our prayers (((bev))).
