The election of a Democratic majority in the U.S. Congress and the inauguration of Felipe Calderon as president of Mexico offer the two countries an opportunity to reinvigorate a deteriorating relationship and, at the same time, build confidence in the idea of a true North American community. To do so, the new leaders must change the agenda from illegal immigration to North American development and resolve to narrow the income gap between Mexico and its two northern neighbors

I was under the impression that one was a money maker and one was not?
To: texastoo
However, he has proposed implementing a "Customs office" or some such that would put a tariff on all countries who are not in NAFTA. I have no idea what you are talking about, and frankly, won't believe it until I see it. And what have you been smoking to think that I'll become a shill for a general tariff under any circumstances, much less because Pastor allegedly proposes one?
You have a serious case of alternate reality.

I was under the impression that one was a money maker and one was not?To finish your sentence....I was under the impression that one was a money maker and one was not as both are funded by the American taxpayer. Where would the investment money to Mexico come from if not the American taxpayer?

I hope you don't expect Europe to provide the investment. They are investing in eastern Europe for precisely the same reason that the US and Canada would invest in Mexico.

How generous of you with my money. Shall we call this socialism? Kofi and Pastor sends their love to you.

President Clinton has said that
"An efficient, safe and well-integrated transportation system is crucial to the Western Hemispheres continued growth and prosperity."
This will be even truer tomorrow than it is today.
Our elected Chiefs of State promised to create a Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) at the Miami Summit of the Americas five years ago. To support the FTAA, we should make the best investments for the transportation systems of the Western Hemisphere by 2005.
The economic potential of a hemispheric-wide free trade agreement is enormous. The 800 million people of the Americas already generate over $9 trillion in economic activity.
By the year 2010, the Western Hemisphere will be a larger market for the United States than Western Europe and the Pacific Rim combined.
But our shared economic progress will stall if our regions transportation system infrastructure is unable to safely and efficiently handle the rapid increase in multilateral trade we expect.
To sustain our economic growth, we will need the kind of transportation system that Chilean Minister Claudio Hohmann, I and 32 other ministers envisioned at the Western Hemispheric Transportation Ministerial I hosted in New Orleans last December.
That vision called for "A seamless network of highways, rail lines, shipping routes and aviation corridors stretching from the Yukon to Tierra del Fuego."

Because their government is corrupt and is forcing corporations to invest in foreign countries and government?

Good post. Even Clinton is pushing the one world order with free trade.

Trade literature from China says its economy is market-socialism. I've seen it described as state-capitalim as well. What's the point of definitions when its about authoritarian thugs fleecing the masses?

How else can I explain all of this socialism of the free traders? You and Pastor and Paul Craig Roberts are all smoking the same drugs. None of you make any sense.

Now you've done. You linked us to Linda Muller's website. Gotcha!
So now we have to acknowledge her association with Buchanan, Keyes, Minutemen, third party, Constitution Party.
So what do we see at her website? The same old tired faces. The union shills and economic populists.
That's what you are. You say "picking up the tab" and etm says "fleecing the masses"
Let me put some consistancy and time integration to this.
If we go back 6 years we see the same thing, Linda Muller, Pat Buchanan, Alan Keyes, third party, Constitution Party.
BTW, did you notice that we've been moved to chat? Hahhahhahhahhah

It was getting late last night, and I remember a supporter of tariffs (FR) suggesting that, because someone who is
claimed to be a free-trader (Pastor) will soon be supporting tariffs, then other free-traders who regularly oppose tariffs will now support them.
I'm afraid to go back this morning to do the forensic analysis.

Let me save you the trouble, I've alredy looked at it and texastoo, always mixed up, is referring to harmonizing tariffs in North America.

Do you understand that harmonizing tariffs will benefit the growing Mexican middle class.
To: hedgetrimmer
Yes. I'm quite certain that all you say is true. People have been so snowed to actually believe our government cares about their welfare at all. Those who have been suckered into this pathetic set of circumstances the most are the minorities. We can always tell by those that rant and rave the loudest and with the fierest and most poisonous venom. Jesse Jackson and his band of jolly thieves are leading the way...
And, even though all those people are laughing now and enjoying many a luxury, they'll be a might sorry for their hard hearts and pathetic deeds come Judgement Day. Most don't realize they will become permanent residents of hell for eternity. But, that's just too bad because that's the price one must pay if they choose to become a vampire that sucks the life out of people...
