CHRISTMAS STORIES
Tim Burton's holiday classic, THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS (1993), makes a return to the big screen each holiday season. The dazzling new make-over of the musical-fantasy was led by writer/producer Tim Burton and the technical wizards at Industrial Light + Magic.
Audiences will get closer than ever to Halloweentown's beloved Pumpkin King, Jack Skellington, as he attempts to take over the Christmas holiday. Against the advice of Sally, a lonely rag doll who has feelings for him, Jack enlists three mischievous trick-or-treaters Lock, Shock, and Barrel to help him kidnap Santa Claus. Jack eventually realizes his mistake but has to contend with the evil Oogie Boogie before he can make things right and restore the Christmas holiday. Fueled by an unforgettable soundtrack featuring ten ghoulishly delightful songs by Danny Elfman who also provided the singing voice for Jack.
A CHRISTMAS STORY (1985) is humorist Jean Shepard's vignette-laden, nostalgic view of Christmastime in Indiana during the 1940s.
The main story involves nine-year-old Ralphie, who desperately wants a Red Ryder BB Gun for Christmas -- and is waging an all-out campaign to convince his reluctant parents that the toy will be safe in his hands. Meanwhile, Ralphie prepares for the big day with his rather idiosyncratic family. For example, his brother has a strange relationship with food, and his dad is obsessed with a crossword puzzle contest. But the most important question of all is...when Christmas Day arrives, will Ralphie be the proud (and careful) owner of a Red Ryder BB Gun?
ITS A WONDERFUL LIFE (1946) George Bailey has so many problems he is thinking about ending it all - and it's Christmas ! As the angels discuss George, we see his life in flashback. As George is about to jump from a bridge, he ends up rescuing his guardian angel, Clarence. Clarence then shows George what his town would have looked like if it hadn't been for all his good deeds over the years. Will Clarence be able to convince George to return to his family and forget about suicide ?

will you be teaching there? Yep. I'm just moving into my office today (and have access to high speed again, thank goodness). This term I am teaching research methods, but my areas are knowledge management, organizations, and information policy. Next term I teach strategic management.
So far so good, but then there are no students around. I suspect it will be different when they come back. : )

I am sure you are a good cook Dolly but you have so many other things going on that sometimes certain things have to slip.
You have given me the opportunity to brag though LOL, I pickled the lemons and onions and they were beautiful, I have missed pickled lemons the last few years mum always did them and so I did them this year and am very pleased with the results.

my mom LIKES your kind of cooking.. the English/Amish/Meat & Potatoes w/gravy.
I do a LOT of ethnic cooking.. Italian, Thai, Mexican..and it is good but not her fav. When I do try, there is always something "wrong" if you know what I mean.
I also am NOT good in the ethnic Slovak type foods she likes.
I need to get more of her recipes while she is here to share them,
Just had my hot bath/soak. My back was REALLY spasming.. I fell on the floor at Walmart & wasn't sure I could get up..Sharp knife pains.. tough to be 32 & in such rough shape. Trip to chiropractors tomorrow & MUST line up SOMEHTING for kenneling my dogs..NOTHING is working along those lines...
bor now will get to sleep.. night sweet ladies.

Have I missed something Dolly are you going on a trip seeing as you are talking about kenneling the dogs?
What sort of food is Slovak is it similar to Polish and Hungarian as we now have a lot of Poles in Ashford a lot of the local shops are starting to carry Polish and Hungarian food for them. After Christmas/New Year I am going to try the Polish bread I am told it is very good and different from traditional British bread.
