CHRISTMAS STORIES
Tim Burton's holiday classic, THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS (1993), makes a return to the big screen each holiday season. The dazzling new make-over of the musical-fantasy was led by writer/producer Tim Burton and the technical wizards at Industrial Light + Magic.
Audiences will get closer than ever to Halloweentown's beloved Pumpkin King, Jack Skellington, as he attempts to take over the Christmas holiday. Against the advice of Sally, a lonely rag doll who has feelings for him, Jack enlists three mischievous trick-or-treaters Lock, Shock, and Barrel to help him kidnap Santa Claus. Jack eventually realizes his mistake but has to contend with the evil Oogie Boogie before he can make things right and restore the Christmas holiday. Fueled by an unforgettable soundtrack featuring ten ghoulishly delightful songs by Danny Elfman who also provided the singing voice for Jack.
A CHRISTMAS STORY (1985) is humorist Jean Shepard's vignette-laden, nostalgic view of Christmastime in Indiana during the 1940s.
The main story involves nine-year-old Ralphie, who desperately wants a Red Ryder BB Gun for Christmas -- and is waging an all-out campaign to convince his reluctant parents that the toy will be safe in his hands. Meanwhile, Ralphie prepares for the big day with his rather idiosyncratic family. For example, his brother has a strange relationship with food, and his dad is obsessed with a crossword puzzle contest. But the most important question of all is...when Christmas Day arrives, will Ralphie be the proud (and careful) owner of a Red Ryder BB Gun?
ITS A WONDERFUL LIFE (1946) George Bailey has so many problems he is thinking about ending it all - and it's Christmas ! As the angels discuss George, we see his life in flashback. As George is about to jump from a bridge, he ends up rescuing his guardian angel, Clarence. Clarence then shows George what his town would have looked like if it hadn't been for all his good deeds over the years. Will Clarence be able to convince George to return to his family and forget about suicide ?

This was my first and favorite willow angel.
She is called the Remembrancer Angel, I got it as a gift after my mother passed away.

Had a great one and in keeping with most people in Britain we had company today.
Our friend who often drives dad to his hospital appointments came round for a meal and bought his dog with him.
We had the roast lamb that I bought at ASDA the other day. It was beautiful it just melted in your mouth but then for over 30.00 dollars it should.
The lamb when I took it out of the oven
My dinner - roast lamb, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, sprouts and chestnuts, brocolli, stuffing and covered in gravy.
Our friend and his dog

back (at least for now).. you have had a pretty series sleep deficit from what I recall..Those 12 hours no doubt helped a lot but really not completely to get that immune system revitalized!
Gretchen has Dose tonight, I think.. she normally posts late as she is on West coast...Thought I would try for toaster but I am AGAIN so tired. Did get to bed fairly early last night but DID get up at 4 & have had a pretty busy day..
But before I sleep the concierge MUST check in on the "queen"

you are such a good cook & impressive in all you do. I recall the freind of your dad & pix from last year(or was it year prior). I am sure his being here helps ease the pain of one year anniversary of mom's passing.
How old is the pooch?

How NICE! Look at that plate of food! And the gravy! You know what this does to me....lol....and here I have promised myself that my New Year's diet started today.
I have my daughter on IM and she told me it's Boxing Day (an official holiday) in the Cayman Islands. She is working (of course) but the stores all closed early today and government employees had the whole day off.

Yeah, I think GEM posts the Dose tonight --- I don't want to be first again for a while --- so I am thinking about watching a movie from Netflix and checking back a little later.
LOL -- yes, check the 'queen' and maybe have anice drink.

I have it next to my favorite photo of my mother. It was taken in April 11 and we had a freak snow storm. All the spring flowers were out, daffodils, tulips and the crabapple tree was in full bloom.
It was the best of two seasons, snow and flowers.
