CHRISTMAS STORIES
Tim Burton's holiday classic, THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS (1993), makes a return to the big screen each holiday season. The dazzling new make-over of the musical-fantasy was led by writer/producer Tim Burton and the technical wizards at Industrial Light + Magic.
Audiences will get closer than ever to Halloweentown's beloved Pumpkin King, Jack Skellington, as he attempts to take over the Christmas holiday. Against the advice of Sally, a lonely rag doll who has feelings for him, Jack enlists three mischievous trick-or-treaters Lock, Shock, and Barrel to help him kidnap Santa Claus. Jack eventually realizes his mistake but has to contend with the evil Oogie Boogie before he can make things right and restore the Christmas holiday. Fueled by an unforgettable soundtrack featuring ten ghoulishly delightful songs by Danny Elfman who also provided the singing voice for Jack.
A CHRISTMAS STORY (1985) is humorist Jean Shepard's vignette-laden, nostalgic view of Christmastime in Indiana during the 1940s.
The main story involves nine-year-old Ralphie, who desperately wants a Red Ryder BB Gun for Christmas -- and is waging an all-out campaign to convince his reluctant parents that the toy will be safe in his hands. Meanwhile, Ralphie prepares for the big day with his rather idiosyncratic family. For example, his brother has a strange relationship with food, and his dad is obsessed with a crossword puzzle contest. But the most important question of all is...when Christmas Day arrives, will Ralphie be the proud (and careful) owner of a Red Ryder BB Gun?
ITS A WONDERFUL LIFE (1946) George Bailey has so many problems he is thinking about ending it all - and it's Christmas ! As the angels discuss George, we see his life in flashback. As George is about to jump from a bridge, he ends up rescuing his guardian angel, Clarence. Clarence then shows George what his town would have looked like if it hadn't been for all his good deeds over the years. Will Clarence be able to convince George to return to his family and forget about suicide ?

The original is at Forest Lawns Cemetery. The colors are much more distinctive then shows up in that photo. The blue is exquisite

Hi Dolly,
That is too funny! Did you get that as an e-mail?
I'm doing great, I started working on Monday which I'm quite happy about. My group is great, and with the corrosion issues up north we will be quite busy this coming year with lots of people relying on us. Getting adjusted to the schedule (i.e. getting up at 5:45) takes some getting used to, but I love waking up excited to go in!
Starting right before Christmas, its been kind of slow, but it gives me a chance to take care of lots of administrative things. After the new year, I'll really get involved and have lots to learn. I'm probably going up to the Arctic in Jan, which should be fun too.
Other than that, not a whole lot new here besides a lot of snow. I'm still around, and check my FReepmail and pings, just haven't been posting a whole lot recently.
Do you have any big plans for Christmas? I'm spending Christmas with some good FRiends who live up here and enjoying my time off.

Hi to those who visited yesterday/today/and maybe over the weekend. This list is not new & I am not the author but I feel there is some wisdom in here for me & for all of us.. /dolly
Suggestions for happiness..
ONE. Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.
TWO. Marry a man/woman you love to talk to.. As you get older, their conversational skills will be as important as any other.
THREE. Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want.
FOUR. When you say, "I love you," mean it.
FIVE. When you say, "I'm sorry," look the person in the eye.
SIX. Be engaged at least six months before you get married.
SEVEN. Believe in love at first sight.
EIGHT. Never laugh at anyone's dream. People who don't have dreams don't have much.
NINE. Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely.
TEN. In disagreements, fight fairly. No name calling.
ELEVEN. Don't judge people by their relatives.
TWELVE. Talk slowly but think quickly.
THIRTEEN. When someone asks you a question you don't want to answer, smile and ask, "Why do you want to know?"
FOURTEEN. Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk..
FIFTEEN. Say "bless you" when you hear someone sneeze.
SIXTEEN. When you lose, don't lose the lesson
SEVENTEEN. Remember the three R's: Respect for self; Respect for others; and responsibility for all your actions.
EIGHTEEN. Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
NINETEEN. When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
TWENTY. Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice.
TWENTY-ONE. Spend some time alone.

That is the excitement of it every year your house could be moved to a new street.
I lived through quite a few of the hurricane season in FL, they always seem to skirt around the Tampa area.

I took a trip home to Fla, Tampa area. Will you be having Christmas with your parents. Are you going to be cooking the bird?
How are you set up for the Holidays?
I have a couple errands to run tommorrow, but I'm pretty much set.
My folks are having Christmas and I'll be helping them out. There will be eight of us and I'll be in charge of making sure the gravy turns out perfect. My favorite: homemade gravy and my moms homemade mashed taters; that's good eats!
Hope you and yours have a great Christmas.
Thank you for the well wishes. I hope you have a wonderful Chrismas as well :)
