CHILDREN watched in horror as a Santa Claus collapsed and died as he handed out presents at a Christmas party.
Andrew Robertson, 82, took ill as excited youngsters were being given their gifts.
He was taken to a side room, still dressed in a Father Christmas outfit, and attempts were made to revive him.
But when medics arrived, he was pronounced dead.
Mr Robertson, from Dundee, had played Santa for several years at the city’s Broughty Castle Bowling Club’s Christmas party, which is held for the grandchildren of members.

I hate it when that happens.
Ditto. Tragic and sad.
Not a pretty event, hopefully next year these kids will get over it.
First the polar icecap melts, now Santa dies,...Don't tell me, Mrs Santa is now living in Palm Beach hanging with the gay crowd......
I wonder how his elves handled the situation with the kids and parents in attendence.
Nothing. That's why it's in the Chat section.
There's more to life than politics, man :~)
Tragic, but not as bad as the title implies. Read the article, he was helped out of the room by two other men, and died there, away from the children.
When my sister and I were little we went to church, late. The service had begun when we walked in. An Old man had died suddenly and we got there in time to see him lifted from the pew by other parishoners. I still go to church, and I hope some day my sister will be out of therapy.
Just kidding on the therapy!
My question was raised because of xcamels statement about raising disillusioned liberals.
Ah - good question then, and sorry, ma'am :~)
I'm a she too, with a guy sounding name, I'm told.
Bummer
.
I like to avoid people who think there's a political connection to everything in life. I'm willing to wager that we could find more than a handful of people who believe that Santa's wearing of red was influenced by Mao
Obligatory photo.
But this is the funniest thing I've read all day.
He went out in a state of joy, and he will be resurrected into a state of joy. Can't see any tragedy in that.
Beats getting run over by a Reindeer, I guess... ;)
You know.. like when biff didn't get the right color bike on his 10th birthday...
You want WHAT for Christmas? You're too young for that...argf! Humph! Snorfghpppfff....
