FR Folding@Home Project Update - We're Now #58 of all teams with 16,800,000 Points
Stanford University ^ | 12/17/2006 | Texas Booster

Happy Birthday to the many folding FReepers who joined our little band last December. While we had been folding as a team for a long time, systematic was instrumental in rekindling interest in the team, and all the growth starts with his efforts.

We had just passed into the top 2000 of teams when December started. No Klutz, no lrenh, no malsua.

Uriah was our big gainer, having posted over 2000 points in less than a week!

BoT was folding that first week and is still folding away for us.

The research that we help advance will truly make a difference one day, for you or for one of your relatives.

Please ping us if you have any questions or need help - we do respond!

You might find this an interesting read.

http://techreport.com/reviews/2006q3/geforce-7900gs/index.x?pg=1

We have several tv's in our house, some for gaming and some for watching. It's mostly for background noise, unless hubby is watching westerns or little one is watching cartoons.(my favorite)

Girls can't live up to tv babes because they're not real, but, most young girls don't know that and they start feeling inadequate when they compare themselves to them.

We like the History, Science, Military and DYI channels. Everything this else is just brain rot. Except when a Twilight Zone marathon is on. :-)

Thanks for the link to techreports.com. Good site for news and rumors.

We don't have cable or satellite, but that may change one day. I would watch the History channels and tape the Food channel.

You're welcome. It is a good site. Of course to me, most of it sounds like they're talking chinese. I get some of it.

and tape the Food channel.

mmmmmmmm, the food channel.(Homer Simpson voice over). Good choice.

The Military channel is fantastic. We have Dish Network.

P.S.

Found out the Wii cost $158 and some change to make. They're making a tidy little profit.

PS3 on the other hand cost about $840. No wonder they're hemorrhaging.

well I've just upgraded one of my machines from a Athlon 3400+ to an Opteron 170 (dual core) running at 2.5ghz and have the 502 console running 2 sessions at 95%.

How did the upgrade go? I do not have a true dual core cpu, but I did borg a work laptop that is running a Core Dual. I set the CPU % doen to 70% on each core to combat overheating. Maybe one day I will see the laptop again to check out the log.

Have you had any heat issues?

I noticed that your production has doubled in the past month.

Did you kick the kids off the computers and let the systems fold full time - like they should be folding?

Merry Christmas!

Just this one system. Yes, now I'm the only one who can play games on it. lol.

I'm almost through the Heroic level of Halo. Then comes 'Legendary'. My son said I'll never conquer that one. We'll see.

I go back and forth between Halo on this pc, and Halo 2 on xbox.

I like when my numbers rise. I'll be through with another wu in about 2-3 hours and the second one by tomorrow afternoon sometime.

This xps is great for folding.

Merry Christmas!

Well the CPU is now humming along at 2.7 GHZ and mostly stable on a ASROCK 939-VSTA motherboard on a 1GB Mushking PC3200 memory. I also have 5 drives (320GB - 750GB) online but just plodding along with a PNY Geforce FX5500 video card.

I can hardly wait to upgrade to a ATI Radeon 9500 XTX and do some real folding: crunching 1WU in 5 minutes!!

At 2.7 GHz you will crunch a lot of work units.

The X1950 XTX with 512 MB is supposed to be a real barn burner, and the 48 pixel shaders work in parallel when folding.

Those cards will average between 550 ppd and 660 ppd. One of those cards at full speed can replace all of my home computers as far as points earned.

Five drives? Are you starting your own private Blockbuster? Or just trying too see what a 1000 watt power supply costs?

I have one work laptop that has the Core Duo in it and it flies when folding. Shame I can't take it home at night.

Does anyone have any contact with the folder davemaher?

He has been folding like crazy, nearly 300,000 points, and now his production has dropped.

http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_summary.php?s=&u=175583

FReepmail me if anyone knows his FReeper name.

One, is he OK?

Two, did the admin mods ban him? Could he even have criticized Bush?

Three, is he in school and now the energy czars have taken over?

Inquiring kinds want to know!

Not knowing your points before and after puts me at a disadvantage.

I have gone through the forums and there was a problem with projects in the p20xx range not getting correct credit.

A daily log of your points (this is using the raw feed from Stanford) shows that the points were uploaded.

Perhaps there was a problem with the work unit and the collection server sent it off the be reviewed. This being Christmas and all ...
