Perhaps Obama's next attack ad to air in Michigan can blame President Bush and the McCain-Palin ticket for the Lions' poor performance over the last seven years.
In the preseason, the Lions beat the Giants by 3, the Bengals by 17, the Browns by 20, and the Bills by 8. Atlanta beat them opening day, Detroit on the road, by 13, and Atlanta appears to be getting its clock cleaned by previously 0-1 Tampa Bay. TB's loss was to New Orleans.
The Lions Practice Squad sucked Sunday. Not the entire game, of course, just the entire first quarter, and the second quarter up until their first score, which was a field goal. They scored two more field goals, then in the second half a touchdown (+pa), then a safety, then another touchdown (+pa), and took a lead of one point (24-25). GB then had over seven minutes left, went down for a touchdown, but had to settle for a field goal, plus the lead. On the first play of the next Lions' series, Kidna threw a nice tight interception, into double coverage, a spectacular achievement.
That's when the Lions started to suck again. No, wait, you'll see.
That ridiculous turnover made me sick (actually, I was ill all weekend anyway), and I shut it off. After a while I thought, I'll turn it back on, the game must be over by now, and see what the damage was. The game wasn't over, and the score was 48- 25, meaning the Packers had scored three touchdowns and pa's in about five minutes of game clock.
I thought Bret Favre wasn't with the team anymore?!? ;')
I'm not going to watch another 14 games of such pathetic garbage. I'll check in after the games have been played to see how badly the Lions were beaten.
I don't expect them to win any games this season -- by that I mean, I don't expect them to win even ONE game -- and I'm not going to waste two or three hours every Sunday better spent on FR. ;')
The Raiders are about to fire Kiffin. On Monday of the Lions' bye week
Millen may fire Rod Marinelli and hire Kiffin. Sounds stupid, right?
It would fit everything we know about
Millen, except his penchant for hiring or retaining coaches whose names start with the letter M (the only exception being Gary O. Moeller, and
Millen *should* have kept him). If the Lions start is 0-3 -- and seriously, who believes the Lions will beat the 49ers in SF? -- Marinelli, or someone else on the coaching staff, will be sacked. It should not be that way, because it's always worse for a team that's already spent eight or nine years in rebuilding mode to have that kind of turmoil and upheaval during the middle of the season.
Kiffin walked into a situation possibly worse than the one in Detroit, and after losing in week one to the Broncos -- a team on the way up -- the Kiffin-led Raiders whipped archrivals Kansas City. During the Lions-Packers game, actually just before, one of the announcers noted that the Packers and Chiefs were both the youngest teams in the league (that is, the players on each team were on average younger than all other teams).

Seriously, I don't see any potential Lions victories there, but have left the scores blank, because I don't like to consider either eking out a near-win, a.k.a. a loss, or the probable blowouts we'll see on that list by season's end.
