Benheck.com ^ | June 2006 | Benheck

A friend of mine asked back in May "Can you build an Xbox 360 laptop?" And I responded "Sure, can you pay for it?" He agreed, and thus I set forth on what was surely to be my most complex and insanely ridiculous videogame project yet. (I say videogame project as I highly doubt I'll ever manage anything as complex as Port Washington again, though at times this project sucked my will to live about as much)

I just wanted to share this with all the other computer geeks out there. It's a pretty cool project!

Very cool! Microsoft ought to consider building something like this (without the water-cooled CPU).

Oh, it wasn't my project. I just thought it was cool and wanted to share it. :-)

I'm not quite that ambitious.

Wow. I'd take one. (Well, one without the water cooler. That sounds like a disaster waiting to happen for a portable system.)

Since the same outcome can be had with a less expensive Windows laptop--aren't most game titles available for Windows too?--I see it as a very cool project, but not a viable product.

Thanks:

Contiki is a small, open source computer operating system developed for use on a number of smallish systems ranging from 8-bit computers to embedded systems on microcontrollers, including sensor network motes. The name Contiki comes from Thor Heyerdahl's famous Kon-Tiki raft.

Linux based :

T2 is an open source system development environment (or distribution build kit if you are more familiar with that term). T2 allows the creation of custom distributions with bleeding edge technology. Currently, the Linux kernel is normally used - but we are expanding to Hurd, OpenDarwin and OpenBSD; more to come. T2 started as a community driven fork from the ROCK Linux Project with the aim to create a decentralised development and a clean framework for spin-off projects and customised distributions.
