Lol they're the "we're too conservative for you" people. They think they're better than everyone else. They know all and thus, don't have to wait for facts to make any decision. And they're also willing to trash the President for ANY decision, even if he hasn't made it.

You do of course realize this is a RUMOR right? On Drudge. With absolutely NO substantiation. No link for verification. On a website where the track record for this kind of RUMOR being true is pretty slim...but don't let that get in the way of your log cabin fantasies.

Scary isn't it how the "more conservative than thou" crowd reveal themselves to be as angry and prone to believe the latest rumor as the DUmmies.

All too obvious.

But in trashing the President with no correlating facts they also make themselves look really STUPID too, don't you think? :)

Most 13 year old girls with more emotional control than the Bush bashers around here. And yet, they seem to feel no embarrassment when proven wrong. It's quite remarkable, actually.....

Yes, it is. Sometimes it's hard to tell which is which. They sound the same.

Lol why should they feel embarassment? Even after proven wrong, they still believe they're right.

"Why bother to wait for the facts? TRASH BUSH NOW! *rolling my eyes*"

I agree with you. However, the administration hasn't done much to counter that response for the past several years.

No one here in their right mind is happy to lose Bolton. He can't be replaced with one like him.

Problem is, no matter who is picked, there's a problem getting them through the Senate. Bolton could not get through with the Repubs in nominal control. Voinivich blocked him, then changed his mind, only to be replaced as blocker by Chaffee. The Dems were ALL or nearly all against him, I believe. Now the Senate has gone under Dem control.

I have read that to reappoint Bolton under the recess rule would mean Bolton could serve again but would have to do so without pay. Do you know if that's correct? Be that as it may, I don't blame either Bolton or the President for chucking it where this job is concerned, given the givens.

Back to the next appointee. I can't see it being Mitchell. That is a profound wish by the Dems, I believe.

From our standpoint, it needs to be a professional with creds on both sides and with the public, or else a strong Republican with good enough creds to get a positive vote. For the latter option, someone like Orrin Hatch (no he's not a favorite of mine) is the type I'm talking about. He can be conservative, combative and strong when he wants to be. And as a sitting Senator he'd have LOTS of creds.

You fill in the blank of some type you think could get confirmed who would do an acceptable job, if you can do better than my Orrin Hatch type. If you want, or maybe you're too upset by losing Bolton...

Could it be that a deal has been worked out between the White House and the Dims to throw the Dims a few bones (Rummy and John Bolton) in exchange for less oversight, investigations, etc.?

I put nothing past anyone.

"I have read that to reappoint Bolton under the recess rule would mean Bolton could serve again but would have to do so without pay. Do you know if that's correct?"

Yes, it is correct. Bolton was asked about this a couple of weeks ago, but he didn't really comment on it, saying he was still hoping for an up or down vote. It would be nice to think he is well off enough to do it for simple patriotic reasons, but I just don't know. Cripe, I'd pay him to stay if I could.

You ARE aware that it was the President who pushed hard for John Bolton in the first place, aren't you? And appointed him in spite of great Dem opposition. And I heard today that he told Bolton that he would fight for him, but it was Bolton who insisted on resigning.

How do you deal with that relative to your assertion that he 'hasn't done much' in the past few years.

This is the point I would like to make and then, hopefully be off....

President Bush has been completely consistent from Day One. He has done, almost without exception, exactly what he said he would do. And he has, without exception, done so with character and integrity.

It is those who bash him incessantly who have the problem, not he. And I, for one, am sick of them.

"I put nothing past anyone."

Neither do I, but I think that's doubtful. Frankly, the Dhimmicrats have so many loose cannons among them, I don't think their own leadership could get them to agree on concessions.

Rush said in his first five minutes today that Bush told Bolton that he would fight for him, but that Bolton himself, insisted on the resignation.

I have nothing to verify that with yet, but it is consistent with Bush's character, so rings true.

That would make it unlikely that Bolton would accept a recess appointment without pay.
