The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

"It's a really eye-opener for me to see what I can do."

I feel that way a lot too! Remember when I made the yogurt in the warm attic? I wanted to walk up and down the neighborhood holding it aloft saying "HA! Whodda thunk THIS??"

Heh heh!

OMG, who is this filling in for Glen Beck? He's talking about James Cameron's "discovery" of Jesus tomb.

He doesn't know about Joseph of Arimathea (sp?) that provided the tomb.

But worse than that, he assumed Jesus death/burial and resurrection took place in Nazareth because "that's where he was from."

Thanks for the compliments on the room! I think it's going to be my favoritest room in our house until we redo the kitchen, because it's the one that we made. And I picked the paint colors/techniques so I am so happy that it came out so well.

I got to tell you, I just love having someone to work with on something like this - something that's ours, not for my parents or some friend. Our house and we can do whatever we want to it.

It makes a big difference, when the projects are yours, and you have a good partner to do them with. :~)

There are several sets of lights hidden up in the floor joists. Two long florescent lights that are nicely recessed up there and a set of LED pucklights that are aligned to put dim spotlight where the sitting positions on the couch will be so you can see your munchies while you watch a movie. Once the trim is on the ceiling around the hole it will look better. It was a lot harder to do than a 'drop ceiling' but adds a few inches of actual height and a foot of virtual perceived height to the room. It is only about a 7 foot ceiling so it needs it.

I got the idea from a picture in a remodeling book and thought I would experiment. There is also painted foam pieced up between the joists that do a great job of dampening echos. The room feels 'tight' and cozy.

Yes indeed on both parts. It's so comfortable to have someone to do stuff like that with. I keep being impressed with how many different things the two of us both like doing. It's a real blessing.

Gunner didn't actually eat it...just chewed it all to pieces. My dad had an old cell that he activated for me. Not the nice flip up that I had, but at least I didn't have to pay $$$ for a new one. On the bright side, in 1 1/2 years my contract will be up and I can upgrade...and every time I use this "new" phone I will be reminded of my puppy (and my lack of attention to keep things from him). :-)

He's a good dog, and will grow out of the chewing stage (maybe by the time I get my new phone). We came home the other day after being gone all day and there he was down at the pond. It was freezing out and the water on his fur quickly turned to ice.

The room looks great! We did a floor like that too and liked how easy it was to install as well. Our next project is to tear down the oldbarn/coop...we're thinking of having some other families from church over for a cookout/barndestroying party. :-)

Hm...we should get him together with Cisco some time. Reckon they'd have a BLAST.

Regarding your tagline...there's gotta be some way that art teacher dude could get into that line of business. It'd be right up his alley, no?

Based on the food you serve, you should have no lack of volunteers!

He's a good dog, and will grow out of the chewing stage...

Sam was awful in his chewing stage. We lost the corners of several throw rugs and a couple of blankets. Jr. had a collection of miniature Star Trek ships, many of which will never make warp drive again.

But, the odd thing was, with Luke's toys all over the floor, I think he chewed up one of them. And only partly on that. He learned those were Luke's toys, not his.

Now he completely ignores Luke's toys. It's the cat that likes to bat them around.

I forgot to tell you...

Last I planted the radishes and turnips very early...first part of January...because it was such a pretty mild winter. I kept them covered up with row cover cloth at night.

I didn't mess with it this past winter and it would've been harder what with the ice storm and all...still, early in the fall I planted spinach and turnips. The turnips are still alive, growing very slowly. The spinach, even after being covered in a layer of ice for over a week, is just doing beautifully and I just picked a gallon baggie full this morning.

Yeah, but I wouldn't want to trade for one his prints.

You've inspired me!

I'm removing the caulk from my tub. Steve can re-do it this evening.
