The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Hey, I just got an abusive Freepmail from some troll about the Michael Crichton-Global Warming thread. How can I copy it to send the contents to Jim?

Just do a cut and paste into a new email. Put an explanation at the top.

Send it to JR, but also add: "Admin Moderator" and "Lead Moderator."

Hopefully that will get to them.

If you ~want~ to play hardball, you could also copy it and post it to the thread.

Didn't think about the Admin Moderator. I just replied to the troll, copied the content of his Freepmail into it, told him not to contact me again, and sent it to Jim Robinson.

I'll send a copy to the Admin Moderator, too.

They're using the "S" word for Sunday.

Well, just let us know. It's been a while since we've all gone "booger-for-brains" on some troll...

If you don't get a response to the FRMail, do a 'Report abuse' on that thread and name the poster and copy the FRmail.

I'll check the thread to see if anyone else got the Freepmail; likely they did. That's the way it sounded.

I asked on that thread if anyone else had received it. Haven't heard back yet.

Tha's "S" as in "Sunny" right; surely not "s" as in "snow"! It's beautiful out!! Please tell me no more snow, I'm still chipping ice off the driveway.

It's beautiful here too! Sunny and warm, like a foretaste of spring! I can just see how lovely spring will be here.

The good weather must be getting to me. I want to write, and it's not even November. I've got a perky young narrator and a couple troublesome passengers and a short-haul cargo trip to the asteroids that hasn't got a plot yet but...

We had a nice warm day yesterday, so Joseph got out and lowered the level of the snow on the driveway so that the sun could melt more of it. Unfortunately, that melting froze overnight, creating a slick spot on the driveway, in the shadow of the van, which I didn't see on my way to get in to go to Mass at noon. I glanced down at the keyfob to unlock the van, and the next thing I knew, I was on my fanny! Fortunately, I didn't break anything, but I must have slowed my fall with my right arm because my right shoulder feels 'stove up'. I'll be eating Advil the rest of the day, that's for sure!

I think we need to move South!!

...and the next thing I knew, I was on my fanny! Fortunately, I didn't break anything

I was talking with my friend across the street, and he got a concussion (concussed himself?) falling on the ice, just getting out of his truck at a job site. The ice we have had this winter has killed a lot of people; just from occasionally reading the obits (checking to make sure I'm not in 'em, a la Corin) I know of two people who died from falls on the ice. I hope your shoulder heals up quickly!

Yes, there's Cherokee in my ancestry, on my mamma's side.

My great-great-grandmother Miranda walked the Trail of Tears as a slave. Supposedly, when she got to Arkansas, she sat down and said she wasn't ever walking anywhere ever again, not if she could ride.

When she died, she was the widow of a man named Griffin or Griffith, who was rather well-off for the area and the times --- he had enough land to donate a parcel for a cemetery, and was paying taxes on several buggies, wagons, and horses. Family lore states that Miranda could afford to hire household help and drove a buggy everywhere she went.
