The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Heh! I'll never forget g'nad tellin' that story...

"He died then."

Got our taxes done. We didn't get as much back in one lump sum as we normally do, but we figured it up and actually brought home more than any other year throught out the year so it's ok.

The jedis have good teeth...at least health-wise. I take Joshua to the orthodontist tomorrow and see what they can do for his crooked teeth. He also got approved for 15 more speech therapy visits. I'm hoping getting these two issues dealt with at the same time will benefit him in the long run.

On the way to our tax appointment, I stopped by the house of a friend of mine and dropped off some snacks for the CHEF meeting tonight...since I probably would miss it. Her mom was there. She had a PT Cruiser and the most gorgeous standard poodle!!

I gotta have one. (Both)

Good night!

Well, of course it's Ah-nuld, but in what role?

Well, it wasn't 'zackly a quiz...i heard Ah-nuld say it in a late-night showing of Conan the Barbarian recently and thought I'd put it in the tagline for a while.

No matter how current or witty or whatever a tagline is (or seems to be), it will get old and require freshening.

Snow started in the wee AM, but didn't pick up until after the sun was good and up. that's when the airline called to tell me my first flight was cancelled and they rescheduled me for another. Delays totalled 7 hrs in all - including 3 in a tin can on the tarmack getting de-iced repeatedly. We even had a mid-air near miss with another plane. I've also decided that I find Jamacain/Hattian/whatever Carribean accents unintelligible and prefer to have gate agents without them.

Good thing I brought a book.

That wasn't the original plan, it's a short flight after all, but I heeded the little nudge to pick one up... for just in case. Turns out, I read it cover to cover. "The Devil Wears Prada" The book was much more clever than the movie in terms of storytelling, but I liked the character development in the movie better.

Went to clean the bathroom, and while I mopped the floor, I put the cat box on the counter. It wasn't really in a precarious position, but of course, it wasn't where it usually is.

Ohhh - I already know how that story is gonna end.... :~o

It wasn't pretty.

This is also the cat who once in a great while likes to get on a shelf and push items off one by one to watch 'em fall. Fun for him, but...

The worst was when I had the dachsies. He'd push something like, say, a ballpoint pen onto the floor and then sit and watch what they did with it. I'd seen him pushing stuff off for them often enough to know he was the one doing it, but if I walked in on him, he'd give me an angelic look, like "Look at what those *bad dogs* are doing! Aren't you glad you also have sweet little me?"

Oh - I know it wasn't pretty... there's just no way for that to end well.

I wanted you to know that we found a home for that beagle pup. I called 7 of the neighbors, the vet and the shelter...nobody knew who she belonged to. I put an ad in an email to our homeschool group and got the call a few hours before we were to take her to the shelter. It's kinda funny because we were supposed to take her to the shelter on Monday, but my truck wouldn't start (had to charge the battery), so we had to wait until Tuesday to make the trip to town. Thegirl prayed that if God was keeping us from taking her in, that He would find her a home. I'm glad she's got a home, now we don't have to worry about her.

Do you by any chance have the number of that Goodyear place in Tumwater handy? A quick look on-line doesn't turn them up.

We're closed on Monday, and I'm wondering if they might be open. Of course, I'm probably the *last* person to think of this if they are, so they likely don't have openings, but I figure it's worth checking.

For some reason, it's listed under Freedom Auto & Tires instead of Goodyear. 360-352-5822

Cool - thanks!

And they had an opening, too. But the guy didn't ask for my number or what model my car is. Wonder if I should be worried.

I may or may not have enough PTO hours to cover the day, though. But if it means I can get the van fixed so it doesn't pitch and yaw, that'll be nice.
