The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Smoked pepper jack sounds mahvelous...

We used to get my sister smoked gouda for her birthdays and for Christmas...it's her favorite cheese.

Come to think of it, we're kinda big on cheese. ;-) I got cheese for my birthday this year, too...

Back...guess I should go peek if you guys are there before I invade...

I got key copies made. So far, one of the front gate keys doesn't work. Haven't tested the side. Guess I can stop by tomorrow with the other.

Heh, lights on the ficus look great; 'cute cat (spoiled)' picture. We ended up with a different dinner, enough left for another one and a lunch. Fire burning nicely. Gypsygirl got her bite of the rice & curry chicken, didn't think she appreciate the spicy pork with black bean sauce.

Heh, we did that for a Christmas tree the year we were in Indiana at Christmas. We were planning to go home to MS for Christmas week, so we didn't want to put up a regular tree, but I wanted to have something for Paul, who was just over a year old. I draped lights on the ficus and made some ornaments from felt and stuffed them, so Paul could play with them. I still have those ornaments. I always put those at the bottom of the tree along with any other unbreakable ones, so the toddlers could take them off and play with them, if they wanted. The nicer ones were always out of reach! ;o)

We had a fun party last night. About seven people came over and we played Guitar Hero. It's a Playstation game where you hook up controllers shaped like guitars and hit appropriate keys as shown on the screen to the music.

Ended up with a religious debate at two a.m. before we kicked everyone out.

Sounds fun! We have a family feud brewing with the SIL over my mom's upcoming Christmas visit. SIL can be difficult (always right, passive aggressive, liberal, etc) and always seems to upset mom. Mom is to the point where she doesn't want to visit at all. She agreed to visit if she could stay the nights at my house instead of their place. Now SIL is playing the 'don't you love us' game and trying to maniuplate her into changing her mind about the arrangements. It's not a matter of love, it's a matter of three very loud, young children and mom needs a break to recharge. Argh.

It was! Of course this is the week we'd decided to go thirty minutes out of town for church. And we won't really have another chance for that before Christmas. So instead of sleeping in sensibly until eleven and getting to a noon service, we're up at 8.

Then again the puppies whould have needed to be up no matter. They were awfully good boys and let us sleep in an hour and a half. And they were good last night. We let them stay and visit while the first two guys were here but when the five younger people arrived and the real partying started, they went away.

It was a great time. We have not had more than one other person at a time over since we were married and really entertaining was fun. I made a plate of one-pan magic cookie bars and a gazillion shrimp wontons and they went fast.

The family stuff sounds like a drag. I am glad there aren't a lot of weirdness in my family yet. Give it ten years though....

Good Morning All -

Overtaxed: not quite as warm as the weather guys would have one believe, the 'south wind' isn't warm..'Dead Man's Chest' was a bit uneven, glad we turned on the subtitles. Got the 'DaVinci Code' for tonite.

Hmmm, Hair, well.. Corin as Laird of the HH Compound perhaps?

Corin, if my ciphering is correct, isn't this the last set of shows for ~ this ~ season?

There was an additional complication in that we didn't have the right checks. We kept getting them half filled out and noticing they weren't our checks.

New landlord?

Does this one do construction in the middle of the night?

Three different doses to give Tam right now - eye medication, antibiotic, and the dietary supplement.

Amazingly enough, he still slept on the bed last night. You'd think he'd be terrified of me.

All that banging last night got me up twice. I never know if it's the horses banging around or your crazy landlord.
