The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Posted on 12/01/2006 12:55:15 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Speaking of drinks...one of these days I'm gonna get a blender or smoothie maker that can crush ice...and then I'll have to bug you to teach me how to make frozen margaritas.

Step 1: put ice in the blender.
Step 2: pour enough margarita mixture (get the preblended stuff) until the ice is barely covered.
Step 3: blend.

That lets you make them to fit how many you want. Half a tray of ice makes about one margarita.

Does the preblended stuff already have the alcohol in it and all? I couldn't remember.

Comes of being spoiled by a roommate willing to do all the work. ;-)

ecurbh accidently shaved his off once when he was getting ready for a job interview... He has two slices through it before he noticed... he was committed then. :~)

Watching FoTR here... imagine that :~) Took a break at Rivendell to have a bath, now I'm ready to get back on the road.

Some of 'em do. They'll say on the jug. The ones that do cost $11-15 a bottle, the ones that don't are three or four bucks because it's the tequila that's important.

The Jose Cuervo and Margaritaville premixed are the ones we liked. Also, get some Mike's Hard Lemonade sometime, you'll like that stuff!

I'm not sure what hot lemon pepper is? Is it a yellow pepper with a hint of lemon? Sounds like it would be good in a cold tomato sauce w/pasta.

Speaking of cold, the weatherweenie just joyfully announced that the first 11 days of February here haven't been this cold since 1989; so we've had 18 years of warmer February's but now we need to be concerned about global warming. Hmmmmm LSA

Yes. It's a moderately hot pepper, yellow, and it has a lemony flavor.

I've got a plant still living in thesunroom and a few dried peppers that I can get seeds from.

I just checked my Longview Gardens catalog and they carried a hot pepper last year called "Lemon Drop"; described as follows--Terrifically hot, citrus-flavored heirloom pepper from Peru. Bright yellow, cone-shaped fruit 2 1/2 x 1/2". Compact plant, good for containers. Ht. 2". Same thing? Sounds delicious!!

*snort* My cousin had a moustace for several years, and I got used to it. When he shaved it, I didn't even notice it. He had to point it out to me.

Don't be too hard on the Missus when she realizes it. ;o)

Looks like we're supposed to FINALLY get some winter weather next week. We've had some really cold days, but we've only had about 4 inches of snow the entire winter! I'm not complaining, mind you. Remains to be seen how much we'll get out of this one. It's gonna be a N'oreaster, and the Cape and the Islands are supposed to have wind gusts up to 45-55 mph.! We're going to the grocery store in the morning to beat the crowds.;o)

We're still hacking ice off the sidewalk and driveway from the ice storms we got last month. I've never seen ice stick around the way this stuff is!

We're going to the grocery store in the morning to beat the crowds

The ol' bread-milk-toilet-paper trip.

In Maryland the pre-storm rushes on the grocery storms ammount to near-panic and is the stuff of legend and jokes. In fact, the state even had a scratch-off lottery game based on bread, milk, and toilet paper. Silly Murl-lunders.

I have to fly TDY tomorrow. Getting to the airport should be fun. At least I'm going to FL for the worst of the storm. :)
