The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Dirk Benedict is alive and still working... Rose has a vague memory that they tried to get him onto the show but he declined, reason not known (may have been a scheduling conflict). Looking on IMDB, he did lend his voice to a BG video game put out in 2003. The game setting was 40 years before that of the show, though... looking at his character name, he may have played the father of the current Starbuck.

That's the thing, you know...we didn't know what to do as far as scolding Joshua. He didn't deceive us. He told us what he was doing and we basically let him because we misunderstood what he was doing and weren't paying attention!

After we got things under control, he was standing in the yard shaking all over and saying "I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry!" over and over. Steve told him "I'm in worse trouble than you are." and kept glancing at me expecting a gasket to be blown any minute. But I didn't even feel angry...just relieved and shaken.

The interview went well. I'll tell you more tomorrow, but we're optimistic.

Yeah, I checked IMDB, too, for Dirk Benedict. Looks like he's still working. Maybe there just wasn't anything he wanted to do on the new show.

Back in the day, I wrote Battlestar Galactica fan fiction with a friend. She and I hated Galactica 1980, and wrote our own interpretation of how the Colonials found Earth.

We started where aired Galactica left off, and had the Fleet leave Apollo behind as soon as possible. We gave the viper cadre to Starbuck, then, after many years, brought Apollo back to a cadre that had moved on, where Apollo had not grown or changed at all. Oh, the angst! Oh, the drama!

In fact, I took the characters I created and made up a different universe for them to hang out in.

Do you know how depressing it was to be there and be older than the parents of the bride and groom???

But they were darling folks, so there's that.

Good morning! Oh frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!

...nuthin', just it hasn't snowed any more on top of the foot-of-it we got over the weekend...

...and it's too cold for salt to work.

I feel like I'm stranded on an ice floe.

I'm not sure you were older than Talon's folks Corin but mine... um, yeah, but they started at 19 and I'm the eldest so that's not so bad. I mean by the time Mom was the age I am now she had three children.

I don't think you are older than my folks.

The odd thing to me is that her folks are half way between my age and my folks age. I am close in age to them than to several of her siblings.

Yeah, I thought that after I went back and looked at the pictures. Even so, they're more my contemporaries than you.

All in all though, aging isn't so bad. At least that's what I tell myself on the three or four nightly trips to the bathroom...

We do have an interesting range of ages here. I find that fascinating.

Very cold out this morning. Snowing. I got to use my hands to unfreeze portions of my windshield as I drove so I could see.

Normally I would agree with you but not today. Ugh.

And that's all I'm going to say about that.

Heh...

Of course, since I never saw the older shows, I dunno what his character was like in those.

And I suppose, logically speaking, I don't have a reason to dislike him. I mean...how many times has he saved the day? But still...he's such a drama queen a lot of the time. And all the daddy issues in the first season (speaking of the current series) got old. Grow up already!

Mornin' folkses... [sip]

So... I thought 24 was better (watched it this morning since I crashed early last night). But it's teetering.

Wierd news this morning. Bizarre things about astronauts. Are they just makin' this stuff up now? They think we won't notice? :-)
