Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
Good luck! Let us know how it went!
Done already. Yikes, they come at you fast. Some I knew right away, some I guessed on, and some I couldn't even come up with a guess fast enough.
We'll see. I'll be pretty surprised if I get called to a live audition.
How long does it take to find out how you ranked?
No idea. They won't disclose your score, though, you just get an invitation to the next round.
Well, there is one thing, more likely than not, he is conservative politically. Aggies are more likely to be conservatives than their t-sip counterparts.
Ask him if there are still snakes in the Chicken. I don't know of any Aggie who hasn't been to the Chicken at least once. (I even took my straight-laced grandmother in there once and introduced her to the rattlers.)
FWIW, the Chicken is a bar.
Near Dallas? where? We are north of Dallas. There are many homeschool groups in the area. FriscoHIS, RHSA, PEACH, SAIL, MARCH, AHSOM, to name a few. We'll keep y'all in our prayers.
We got our curriculum for next year today! It's so fun to have "box day". It's like Christmas!
Do you guys do a whole box curriculum or do you pick and choose? My mom did some of both... more picking and choosing with me cuz I was at so many different levels in different subjects, more boxes with some of my brothers who needed more structure.
TGIF!
Well, yesterday we took the dogs for a walk to see what our riding trails looked like after the winter's storms... it's a mess up there, though someone has already been through with a chain saw and cleared the trail, there's just a LOT of downed trees.

Lewisville...any thoughts?
No kidding. And I've had a good week, too.
We do some of both.
We use the Heart of Wisdom Bible Study, Singapore Math, WinterPromise for history (and this year also for science), and Spell to Write and Read for LA. I am looking for a good introductory writing (composition) program for 3rd-4th graders. If you know of one, let me know. SWR does teach sentence structure and grammar, but it only teaches writing up to about the 3rd grade level. I have access to Rosetta Stone, but it is not working out for us right now. I like it and think it's a great way to learn languages, but Spiderboy gets bored with it. Go figure. I am glad I didn't purchase it!
BTW, Spiderboy has announced that he no longer wishes to be an astronaut. He wants to be a computer graphics designer for animation (in movies as well as games).
I think we started Learning Language Arts Through Literature at that age. It was a literature based program, sort of - every few days you'd have a passage from a book to copy, and then activities relating to the passage. You'd get three or four passages from a book and the idea was the kid would read the book on his own. There's a whole series of them and I think it goes up through high school.
Cool pics... Wow, that's a lot of downed timber.
Mornin' folkses... [sip]
:-)
I had a ~date~ last night. With a girl and everything. :-)
OK... its not like that... it's somebody I dated long ago, and have known for more than several years. Every now and then we get together and catch up on things. We both had stories to tell. Was interesting and fun. But it was up in Everett-- yikes-- the traffic up that way is just bananas. I thought commuting ~south~ was hairy, but no...
Who maintains trails? Volunteers?
Eeek, that's gonna be a lot of work - though I'm impressed with how much is done already!
I was just curious about the name is all...
Snakes? In a bar??
We've got a few Aggies in our office. But since when do you have to ~ask~? It's not like Aggies go around keeping it a secret or anything...
[ducking] :-)
Good morning! Who did you go out with? FRMail me if you can't say :~)
