The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

I have lemon juice and Maker's Mark. That'll work.

Doesn't help at the moment, though. Can't get warm enough.

It's times like this that I'm glad my girls are in that big warm cozy chickenyard in the sky.

;-)

Hope I didn't already pass it to Hair and ecurbh somehow.

We feel OK here so far, thanks! Hope you're feeling better soon.

This is something Dad forwarded me.

Pogo Moose Incident - Fairbanks, Alaska

"They were laying new power cables which were strung on the ground for miles. The moose are rutting right now and very agitated. He was thrashing around and got his antlers stuck in the cables. When the men (miles away) began pulling the lines up with their big equipment, the moose went up with them. They noticed excess tension in the lines and went searching for the problem. He was still alive and unhurt when they lowered him to the ground. He was a huge 60 inch bull and slightly peeved !"

Incredible picture!! Wonder who had the job of getting the cable unwound from his antlers?

The story stops short of explaining that part, doesn't it?

Well, I'm home. Pay or no pay, work just wasn't going to happen.

Going to bed.

There's a good excuse. Who wants to put up with nonsense like that on Friday?

Mmmmmkay. So the strange odor didn't get better, neither did my headache. So I opened a window. Well, the folks down the hall didn't appreciate that (it's winter) so they decided to call maintenance. "Well, what does it smell like?" the dispatcher asked me. "Hot electronics." I said.

So she sends the fire truck.

I kid you not. Sirens, axes, hunky guys in nomex and cool hats. One guy brought an axe. The other brought a thermal imager and a tank of air. The third guy was in charge and didn't carry anything.

All sorts of fuss and hullabalooo.

And they find nothing. Not even the smell because I had just had the window open and cleared it out. Even if the smell had been there, I don't think you could have smelled it over their smokey nomex.

"Just call us if it comes back," they said. Inner Chloe is rolling her eyes.

Sure will! Just fix you one when you walk in the door after work tonight, then just wrap up and veg out!

It HAD to have involved tranquilizers.

I could go for a hot toddy!

I just chiseled solid ice off my driveway 1-2 inch sheets of solid ice.

I figured since it was going to snow tonight, I should clear it today.

I'm not sure why. I can no longer think clearly.

Heh heh!
