The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

slippers are not suitable outdoor snow and ice wear.

No, no they're not. I have found that golf shoes work great for ice; bought a cheap pair at K-Mart 'cause I don't play golf. Those slip-on cleats thingys are okay, but they really collect the snow underneath them, if'n we had any snow over the ice....

It's a good argument for not owning fancy dress shoes, I'd say.

I liked fancy dress shoes--they just ~make~ an outfit more than flats ever can. Not the stiletto heels, just shoes with a nice heel height. Of course, back when I was wearing them, we didn't even know what a personal computer was....

Dang hormones!! We could have had the internet years earlier except he was ~ahem~ otherwise occupied.

I hate fancy shoes. I've never owned a pair that was remotely comfortable. With flat feet and a tendency to trip over small strands of carpet fiber, I avoid heels like the plague.

Honestly I think Talon may own more shoes than I do.

I have the exact opposite problem, very narrow feet and an extremely high arch. I splurged and had Dan gift me with a pair of custom orthotics for Christmas and it was the best present!! The ads say they will help people with flat feet, you might want to check into them; shoes should never be uncomfortable, that's just a waste of money.
