Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
sniff, that's be-u-ti-full man.
[snicker]
Evenin' folkses... [sip]
Hey lookie here... I'm wireless again at the [new] waterin' hole.
But only for another week. I'm using up the last week of a Verizon EVDO card that one of my guys loaned me. He's getting a new one.
But this is pretty neat. I may need to get one of these.
Are you going to double post tonight?
Maybe... seems the service is a little spotty. It works... but it wants to give me 404's on the "post" button.
Hope you get that sorted out...
I haven't really said anything about my new job on the thread, have I? I'm working for a company that makes train control hardware and software. It's pretty cool, actually. We're one of the two companies in the country that does what we do and our competitor is a hugh company better known for light bulbs, appliances, and general things that are electrical in nature.
Right now I'm just learning about the company but we're ramping up a project for one of the four major railways in the country (we have contracts with three of the four) which I'm going to be involved in. I was hired for my Java proficiency but I'm as likely to work on the legacy C code or the new C# development. Everyone works on almost all the projects, eventually, so there's plenty of room for growth.
And we are installing devices and software on Iraqi trains to bring them into the 20th century. My boss was complaining today how nobody wanted to travel to Turkey to do training there so we are having some Iraqis visit next week. We will be demonstrating that we can control Iraqi trains from right here in Cedar Rapids. Vey cool!
That's right. I now directly profit from Bush's illegitimate corporate war for oil and profit. Yay!
That's a great one. heh. I know who I'm sending that to.
Hey... that's pretty cool.
We've got some things going on in Iraq too, and every now and then they send out all-company recruiting messages to get engineers to volunteer to go over for some project or other. I'd like to think they could use me, but I know better. But still... it would be interesting. Oh, well...
The ball game's on now. Woohoo! Go Wildcats!
~sip~
Sounds like an interesting job!
Ball game? Lemme guess... that's the one with the big orange ball, right? Not:
Tennis
Base
Foot
Squash
Yadda
Yadda
Yadda
:-)
Heh, yes, the big round orange ball. The one that they bounce and try to throw into the little hoop.
Yah... it's the bouncing part that throws me off. Never could get the hang of that.
[sigh]
this EVDO card is turning out to be kinda a hassle. That I haven't triple-posted stuff is actually a minor miracle. Reading and refreshing pages is kinda hit-and-miss, but posting is mostly-miss. Gotta try a few times to get it to take.
Replying to freepmail appears to be impossible. Sorry, those that sent... I'll try to get back to y'all later..
Ookay.
There's a wanted ad on Craigslist. Subject line says "Wanted: A Million Bucks", and the ad says, "That's all I want, really... I'd be satisfied... Just $1,000,000... that's all..."
Yeah...I'm guessin' there won't be many takers.
Hey, well, you don't ask, you don't get!
There are limits to what you can ask for. ;-)
Looks like it got pulled...figgered it might.
Why? One never knows when "The Millionaire" might just show up.
Remember that show, Corin?
Is this you, too?
Fortunately for me, scopes, lasers, flashlights, and holsters cannot be classified as "outfits".
