The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Got the laundry done and got a shower. Guess I'm ready if the power goes out. At least this time around, I'll be able to make hot meals.

Now I need to find a movie to go with my cocoa and Bailey's.

I splurged and bought an "inverter" yesterday so we can at least have fresh coffee if the power goes out.

Mmmm. Fresh coffee, even in a power outage.

I still have my stainless steel "stove-top" percolator pot from my field days as a jarhead... add H2O, grounds and fire, and yuh gots coffee...

We have a burner on our gas grill, and a campstove percolator, but even better, we have a couple of inverters and some GOOD batteries. So we can have coffee from our Zo thermal coffee maker. Yum.

Y'all stay safe!

Sleet has stopped for the night and the weatherweenies are saying almost no chance of power outages for us, not quite so hopeful for g'nad's area; they are starting to increase the snow amounts for Sunday. Snow's okay.

We don't grill, but we have a great fireplace, get a good bed of coals and we're in business!

I finally got around to spend some quality time with something other than a computer. First, my attempt to make my AKMS a bit less third-world in look and feel. Internal improvements include a bolt buffer, and 115% mainspring.

Second, a minor mod to my PS90:

Unfortunately, the suppressor is a fake, but a vey realistic fake.

I have a buddy attending the SHOT Show in Las Vegas, and he's trying to track down the secret handshake needed to get a tax stamp in Michigan. If successful, the PS90 will get a short barrel, and real suppressor.

Finally, a comparison of what approximately 50 years of technological advance looks like:

Nothing much happening here. It's looking all cold and frozen out there...some squirrels are out.

Morning - Corin, I wonder how many are going to a 'series' flashback from that picture?

The answer is blowing in the wind'

Morning, very nice additions to the weaponries. The can looks very appropriate on the PS 90, sort of completes it.

The birds are all at the birdbath with the heater unit in it; LSA filled it up three times yesterday.

I take it Gypsygirl decilined the morning walk.

I don't see anything sticking to the trees. Maybe we'll get through "the storm" with power. (knock on wood)

Not sure about her 'declining the offer' as we haven't brought the subject up.
