Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
Heh. I got a gas stove so I can make coffee if the power goes out. I think I have some pre-ground coffee around. Maybe I should grind some now.
It's wintry mixing right now.
That would have been the smart thing for me to do when I had to buy a new stove, but I didn't want the expense of a plumber running the gas line. Truly a case of penny-wise and pound-foolish!!
We're supposed to get the ice and some snow on Sunday night into Monday. I know the kids are gonna be bummed because they didn't have school on Monday anyway, because of MLK day. Heh. No snow day for them.
Heh. Mine was already here. Too bad I can't heat with it also. I have cat and blankets standing by just in case.
I do have pre-ground coffee but I think it's decaf. Oh well. Grinding coffee now and charging up the phone. Looks like the roads are slushing up.
I refuse to answer, on the grounds that it might incriminate me...
precip turned to ice 'bout a half hour ago...
larder and likker kab'net are stocked, gas tanks full, plenty of propane and charcoal...
lovin' family snug under on roof... we be ready...
Mmmmm.....likker....
I look around, and I find myself in an all-electric apartment. Hmmm ... maybe we should find out if this fireplace actually works ...?
Stocking up on food ... maybe I'll get some baking done.
yuh gotta have the essentials...
'zactly!
Guess I should fill up some water bottles....just in case. Or maybe I'm missing hurricane season. :)
No ice 'til now? Glad you are all home safe and sound; they are starting to call this the beginning of a 'major winter storm'. Luckily, it's sleet and not freezing rain, which reduces the chances of power outages.
How's your hand doing?
Would be a good idea to check the fireplace! Duraflame (fake wood) logs work well in a pinch, if'n you don't have wood stacked up in the back yard....
precip has slowed... ice on thetrees...
muh hand?... hertz... but gettin' better...
thegirl made homemade noodles tuh go with leftover roast... so we're havin' a big pot of beef-n-noodles...
sorry I couldn't join you tonight... I want a raincheck on the lamb curry... if'n that's okay...
Evening G'nad - we're glad to hear the homestead is safe and secure; the raincheck is redeemable at any time, you and your fine family are welcome anytime.
Hope the hand gets to feeling better real soon.
It's a bit nasty out there but it only took about 20 minutes or so more than usual from the other office to home so we're all in the night.
Hope she'll still be your friend after the HH experience! ;o)
thanks friend...
keep hunkered down, and keep each other warm...
goin' down tuh see what thekidz are uptuh...
Thank you Ramius - Im not sure whne she'll get on to say hello but Ive notified her that Ive already spilled the beans here. I knew y'all would come through to welcome her to the Dark Side LOL - And SuziQ - you should hear some of the conversations she and *I* have...LOL...
There are times I wish I could throw some of my family up on the roof...but not tonight. ;-) We're snug too and it's an absolute mess out there. Steve and I went outside and could hear the trees creaking under the ice.
So far we've got electricity. We're warm. I baked a cake. I've got the oil lamp ready and several candles just in case.
I highly recommend those oil lamps you can get at walmart for like $5. I'm going to get a couple more. My next purchase, however, is a stove top percolator.
