The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Posted on 12/01/2006 12:55:15 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

LOL!

You're The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy!
by Douglas Adams
Considered by many to be one of the funniest people around, you are quite an entertainer. You've also traveled to the far reaches of what you deem possible, often confused and unsure of yourself. Life continues to jostle you around like a marble, but it's shown you so much of the world that you don't care. Wacky adventures continue to lie ahead. Your favorite number is 42.

You're Dune!
by Frank Herbert
You have control over a great wealth of resources, but no one wants to let you have them. You've decided to try to defend yourself, but it may take eons before you really get back what you feel you deserve. Meanwhile you have a cult-like following of minions waiting for your life to progress. This would all be even more exciting if you could just get the sand out of your eyes.

You're a Kangaroo!
Big and brash, but also spry, you were probably a track star at some point in your life. You certainly could do well at the field events, if not always the track as well. When not jumping over hurdles on the track, you've found ways to overcome hurdles in life, usually by stuffing things away for later use. This resourcefulness is combined with a certain amount of charm to persuade others to your side. You've been meaning to take up kickboxing as well, just in case.

meh.

You're Taiwan!
Despite enormous setbacks, including the fact that most people refuse to recognize who you are or even that you exist at all, you've built yourself into quite a productive person.  You've got a little trouble maintaining a sense of personal order, but through the mess, you're still very industrious and have a small but pivotal impact on almost everyone you know, and even people you don't.  You make a whole lot of stuff.

You're a Human!
With extreme power comes extreme destructiveness, and you've had plenty of both to share with your peers. While you're capable of a great deal of beauty and joy, your skill in creating misery seems almost boundless at times. You've made a big fuss about how you're smarter than everyone else, but all they can see is how you've used those smarts for ill. At this point, your best hope is to turn to those around you and start caring about them. It would also be advisable to get rid of some of your stuff, and preferably not by throwing it away.

I gave up after the country and state ones. My country was ~India~ (what's up with that?), and I had to manipulate it to get my state to be Virginia, not ~Maryland~.

For me it was either Oregon or Nevada. No thanks.

I didn't even try the state one.

Erm...

You're a Scorpion!
You really enjoy weapons and like keeping as many of them at hand as possible, just in case. Most of these weapons are sharp, and you have a small collection of armor as well. You just can't be too careful these days. Maybe it's that you've always been small and feel threatened and this has prompted your elaborate collection to bloom. It's not too surprising that you've become a bit of a loner, even a hermit, with those tendencies. Or that your favorite actor is The Rock.

Good morning all!

Rosie, fill your extra water supplies before you go to work, just in case.... I hate to sound like a complainer, but we have another strong wind storm supposedly coming today... Rain and high winds during the day, then snow tonight and a deep freeze for the next several days.

*whimper*

I'm worrying about getting up to Tacoma Thursday morning. I think the snow is supposed to have stopped, but that doesn't mean the roads will be clear and dry.

Wish you would just keep that wind up there in the Pacific Northwest!! We've got winds of 20-40 mph here this morning out of the WNW and it is cold. Gypsy doesn't really like that much wind, so I got a reprieve on her walk (Hurray!)

Our forecast is also calling for rain, freezing rain, sleet and snow over the weekend. Lovely, not!!

You're Stranger in a Strange Land!
by Robert Heinlein
Most people look at you and think of you as a Martian, even though you were born on Earth. Silly Earthlings, er, people. Anyway, you've been telling people about free love and relaxing like it's some radical idea. Most of them want you to go back to the '60's (or Mars), but others are in your groove. Grok on!

Actually I changed my last answer so I would not be Dune.

You're an Eagle!
Sharp-witted and high-flying, you seem to radiate honor and a sense of pride. You'd make a very good lawyer with your keen eye for details. When up in that rare air, however, make sure to remember to look down to keep your bearings. You never know when it might be important for you to have landed. If you're bald, you love the United States of America, but if you have hair, you feel more ambivalent about it.
