The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Thanks for the news/update.
My condolences to his family, wish there was more I could say that was fitting but there's just nothing to say that is useful coming from me.

No more dripping. I think it's like I said...there's some part of the roof that usually drains before it can overfill, but since it was pouring...wasn't happening.

Didn't make it to (ACK!) Walmart yet. Thinking of doing that now, though it'll be scary. Maybe the rain is keeping some people home. I can dream.

Then I should work on getting this place straightened up before I leave! And locating the kitty feeder/waterer set and getting those ready to go.

This weather is not very inspiring for anything, but both of those sound like admirable goals :~)

I guess with these old places, the amazing thing is when they aren't leaking eh?

That sounds great! We're making slow progress. Got about half the sheetrock up on the ceiling. We're hoping to be done in the March-ish timeframe. No buying the cool tv to go down there until it's done, so there's an incentive!

Wiped down the floors and marinated the chicken for dinner. Talon has to go check some stuff at work so I have the house to myself. Only I think I'm just going to keep playing warcraft like I have been all afternoon... er, week... er, month...

This is assuming I can find my purse...ungh.

That's the trouble with disorganization, I guess.

Wiped down the floors and marinated the chicken for dinner.

Interesting technique.

Oh, that's right. The first Doctor was a grey haired guy, the second was that black haired guy with the bangs, then Jon Pertwee. Tom Baker must have been Doctor #4, but he was the one I saw most often when I was watching it.

Jon Pertwee's son, Sean, is a good actor, too. I've seen him in several things, but mostly I've seen him as the Sheriff in the video series of the Brother Cadfael books, starring Derek Jacobi as Cadfael.

[ open on suburban kitchen, Wife and Husband arguing ]

Wife: New Shimmer is a floor wax!

Husband: No, new Shimmer is a dessert topping!

Wife: It's a floor wax!

Husband: It's a dessert topping!

Wife: It's a floor wax, I'm telling you!

Husband: It's a dessert topping, you cow!

Spokesman: [ enters quickly ] Hey, hey, hey, calm down, you two. New Shimmer is both a floor wax and a dessert topping! Here, I'll spray some on your mop.. [ sprays Shimmer onto mop ] ..and some on your butterscotch pudding. [ sprays Shimmer onto pudding ]

[ Husband eats while Wife mops ]

Husband: Mmmmm, tastes terrific!

Wife: And just look at that shine! But will it last?

Spokesman: Hey, outlasts every other leading floor wax, 2 to 1. It's durable, and it's scuff-resistant.

Husband: And it's delicious!

LOL... I remember that one.

It's right up there with the Bass-O-Matic. :-)

Back from my wanderings. Got lost about three times on the way to Walmart - have I mentioned that I *detest* roundabouts? And *town* in general? *grits teeth*

And the optical shop isn't open on Sundays.

Neither is the one at Sears, by the way, in case anyone wondered.

I hate town.

Mmmm... LOL.

Well, I've actually had a wonderfully productive day. Working, even. Have been freeping all day, but have also in between posts made a nice bit of headway on that @#@#ing policy documentation I need to have for meetings tomorrow.

Whew. There's no minute like the last minute.

Now... to pop open the cork on some wild turkey and REALLY get moving on some policy writing. Policy is just not the sort of thing you wanna do sober.

While yer at it maybe you could write a new policy for the customs weenies at SeaTac.

F'r'instance, my paragraph #1:

"Pretend she's your Grandma."

Boy, this thread moves slowly these days.

Maybe it's just a West Coast perception thing.
